The play
Pilot a cheap executor with a stronger planner and reviewer, measuring quality, rework, and margin.
A small GitHub project is getting attention for a simple idea that has real operating value: do not use the same AI model for every job. The Astra plus DeepSeek Flash orchestrator splits work into phases. One model handles planning and review, while DeepSeek Flash does the execution. It is wired into Codex as a workflow where each phase can be checked and reversed before moving on. The repository has 386 stars and is currently gaining around 84 a day, according to the project page.
For a business owner, the important part is the operating model, not this specific repo. Many AI tasks do not need your most capable, most expensive model doing every step. A cheaper model can draft, classify, extract data, or carry out defined actions. A stronger model can set the plan, inspect the output, and step in when the work is uncertain or higher risk. That can lower the cost of AI workflows while keeping controls in place.
The reversible workflow matters too. If an AI process changes records, writes code, or sends customer-facing material, you want checkpoints. You want to see what it plans to do, review the result, and roll back mistakes where possible. This is the kind of thing we build into an AI command centre, with models routed to jobs based on cost, capability, and risk.
The repo itself is an early implementation, not proof that every company should copy its setup. But the pattern is sound: use the right level of intelligence for each step, and put stronger review around work that matters.
