Following Dario Amodei’s call to pace the development and release of increasingly capable models, Sam Altman said OpenAI has discussed similar ideas internally and would commit to giving evaluators access. Elon Musk also voiced agreement.

That does not mean the major labs have signed up to a shared policy, or that product releases are about to slow tomorrow. But it is a meaningful signal. These companies compete hard for talent, customers, capital and attention. Public alignment on the need for independent evaluation and a more deliberate release cadence is unusual.
