METHOD / EVIDENCE / PRACTICE

A model claim should be checkable.

A specification says what a model supports. A benchmark measures a defined test. A useful result on your own work needs its own evidence.

Listed specification

Provider or catalogue information with a source, date and exact model identifier. Hosting routes and app features can differ.

Published benchmark

An external score, with its named test and date. Compare the same test and configuration; a general score is not spreadsheet accuracy.

Task evaluation

The same input and rubric, raw output, model version, settings, retries and total cost. No EDNA task results are claimed by this release.

Try the same work in two models.

These 30 synthetic exercises are prepared and have not been run as model evaluations. Document cases use text, not scans; research uses supplied excerpts; agent cases describe read-only scenarios, not a live tool benchmark.

  1. Choose a case and keep the prompt and input identical.
  2. Record the exact model, provider, settings and date.
  3. Keep the raw output and compare it with the expected answer and rubric.
  4. Count corrections, retries, elapsed time and total billed cost.
  5. Repeat with varied cases before choosing. A small pilot cannot establish a universal best model.

Freshness, pricing and missing information.

Sources carry their observation date. Reviews older than 45 days need refreshing. Unknown support stays unknown; a missing price is never advertised as free. Token estimates exclude caching, tools, reasoning overhead, media, retries and provider fees unless a source explicitly supplies them. Image, video, audio and ranking routes need their own units.
