About Atlas for Snowflake

An official skill from Ariga, the makers of Atlas. It covers what differs when Atlas manages a Snowflake database: the extended build and login, database versus schema URL scope, using a dev database on the same account, identifier case, roles, users and grants, table kinds, stages, pipes and tasks, changes Snowflake only makes by recreating, and lint findings. It is used together with the main atlas skill.

Best for

Data and platform engineers managing Snowflake schemas with Atlas

Use cases

  • Set up Atlas migrations for a Snowflake database
  • Plan schema changes that Snowflake can only apply by recreating objects
  • Manage Snowflake roles and grants as code with Atlas

Notes

Why it matters

Snowflake has no transactional DDL and recreates some objects on change, which catches out migration tools. This skill teaches an agent those rules before it plans a change.

Source

  • Repository: 8,795 GitHub stars, Apache-2.0 licence. Checked 24 Oct 2026 through the GitHub API.

Pros

  • Written by the Atlas maintainers
  • Seven focused reference files
  • Covers the Snowflake edge cases that break generic migration advice

Cons

  • Only useful with Atlas
  • Needs the companion atlas skill for the main workflows
