About Databricks SQL
An official skill from Databricks (upstream name databricks-dbsql). It covers Databricks SQL warehouse features and when each arrived: SQL scripting, stored procedures, materialized views, pipe syntax, geospatial and H3 functions, collations, AI functions such as ai_query and ai_extract, http_request, Lakehouse Federation, recursive CTEs and multi-statement transactions, with a reference file for each.
Best for
Data engineers and analysts working on Databricks SQL warehouses
Use cases
- Write a stored procedure or SQL script on a SQL warehouse
- Set up materialized views for a reporting layer
- Use ai_classify or ai_extract on table data in SQL
Notes
Why it matters
Databricks SQL has added many features recently, and models often miss them or use the wrong syntax. This skill gives the agent current syntax and version limits.

Pros
- Official Databricks skill
- Shows which runtime version each feature needs
- Focused reference file per feature
Cons
- Needs the Databricks CLI
- Part of a set, it expects the databricks-core skill
