About SageMaker Dataset Transformation

A skill from AWS Labs' agent plugins for SageMaker AI. It writes transformation code that moves a dataset, from local files or S3, into the target schema for training or evaluation: OpenAI chat, SageMaker SFT, DPO, RLVR and RLAIF, Hugging Face preference, Bedrock Nova, VERL or custom JSONL. It works one decision at a time and waits for approval before running anything.

Best for

ML engineers fine-tuning models on AWS

Use cases

  • Convert a chat dataset into SageMaker SFT format
  • Reshape preference data for DPO training
  • Prepare evaluation data for a Bedrock Nova model

Notes

Why it matters

Format mismatches are a common reason fine-tuning jobs fail. This skill writes the conversion code for the target format and makes you confirm it before it runs.

Source

Pros

  • Official AWS Labs skill
  • Supports many training formats
  • Approval step before code runs

Cons

  • Assumes the SageMaker SDK setup skill has been run
  • AWS focused

Health and security

Is SageMaker Dataset Transformation looked after, and what do its setup files show

Security check static checks

100 out of 100

Reads what is published about the server: package advisories, licence, secrets in the documented setup and tool permissions. Nothing is installed or run, so this is not a security assessment. Checked by edna-skill-static-v1 main@fbefb3764e67. What it checks

  • Note No dependency list or install command was found in the skill, so there were no packages to look up on OSV.
