How to assess HVAC job costing software

Start with your workflow, not a vendor demo. Every platform will show a polished sample job. Your team needs to test what happens when a job gets rescheduled twice, a part is pulled from truck stock, the installer works overtime, and a callback happens ten days later.

1. Can it capture costs at the source?

Ask how labour, parts, equipment, permits, subcontractors, and discounts reach the job record.

The more manual reconstruction required, the less likely you are to get reliable reporting every week.

2. Does it show estimated versus actual costs by job?
