Instead of Epicor Kinetic
Outgrown the Epicor Kinetic bill? Own your job shop system.
We build your version around how your shop quotes, makes and invoices, bring your Epicor Kinetic customers, parts and open jobs across, and run it for you. No module list to negotiate, and the records are yours.
Epicor does not publish Kinetic pricing. It is quoted privately, with the users, modules and implementation you take shaping the number.

Where the money goes
An Epicor Kinetic quote pays for far more ERP than a workshop uses
A fabrication or engineering shop runs on a short list of records: quotes, jobs, hours, stock and what each job cost. The Kinetic quote wraps those in a whole enterprise system, and the quote is where you find out what that costs.
A price you only see after a sales process
There is no public price list. You talk to sales, scope the users and modules, and wait for a number built for your company.
Users counted and sorted by type
The number and type of users shape the quote, so adding people to the system can change the number.
Modules switched on one at a time
Scheduling, shop floor data collection, quality and other advanced pieces are part of what gets scoped, so the system you can afford and the system you need can drift apart.
A partner-led implementation
Getting an ERP of this size live means configuration, data migration and training through a partner, all before the first job runs through it.
Your own questions routed through query builders
A new view of your jobs means a saved query or a report built by whoever knows the query tools.
Records shaped by someone else's data model
Your jobs and parts live inside the vendor's structure. Leaving means exporting query by query and re-mapping every column.
What your shop gets
The job side of an ERP, without the ERP
Quoting
Quotes that become jobs
Price a job from its planned material and a quoted price, then turn the accepted quote into a live job with the same numbers carried across.
- check Planned material on every quote, at today's rates
- check Accepted quotes open as jobs with the quoted price kept for comparison
- check Quotes gone quiet surface on the attention list
- check Quote documents rendered with your logo
Production
Every open job, honestly dated
One question tells you what is late against the date the customer was given, what is short of material, and which jobs have had nothing booked to them.
- check Days late measured against the promised date, not a revised one
- check Material shortages per job, with what is on order and when it arrives
- check Work centre loading from the jobs actually open
- check Printed job travellers so the floor works from paper, not a terminal
Costing
Job cost and WIP on any day
Hours, issued material and received outwork all land on the job as they happen, so margin and WIP are a question, not a month-end exercise.
- check Cost against quote per job, flagged before the job goes over
- check WIP across open jobs that no invoice covers yet
- check Margin by job and by customer
- check Progress claims and retentions tracked, with payment claim paperwork for construction work
Ownership
Your records, your rules
Plain records in a database you own, changed by describing what you want rather than raising a request with a partner.
- check Customers, parts, suppliers and open jobs brought over from Epicor Kinetic exports, test run first
- check Add a field, rename a status or change a rule by asking for it in plain English
- check Invoices, job travellers and cost reports in your own branding
- check Free and open source: no user types, no module list, no vendor to renegotiate with

Switching
How to switch from Epicor Kinetic
The move involves exporting your shop records, mapping and testing them, then checking the new system against Kinetic while both run side by side.
- 1
Export your shop records
Use Epicor Kinetic’s saved queries or grids to export the records you need as Excel or CSV files, depending on what your account allows. Start with customers, parts, suppliers and open jobs. Check with Epicor Kinetic if you are unsure how to export these records. The exported columns use Epicor’s names, so expect to map them before they are loaded.
- 2
Map and test the data
Have the columns in your exported spreadsheets mapped to the fields Job Shop uses. Before loading the records, ask Claude Code to do a test run and review what it proposes to bring across. This gives you a chance to correct a mismatch before it affects your live records. If Enterprise DNA is installing and running the system for you, they handle this mapping work.
- 3
Review what needs attention
Check the test results for records or columns that could not be mapped, and resolve them before proceeding. Confirm that key records such as customers, parts, suppliers and open jobs appear as expected. Some information may need separate verification rather than being treated as confirmed just because it existed in Kinetic. Keep a list of anything still to check so it does not get lost during cutover.
- 4
Run both systems side by side
Use the time left on your Kinetic contract to run both systems on live jobs for a short period. Compare the new system’s records and numbers with Kinetic, especially for jobs, hours, materials and job costs. Work through any differences before relying on the new system. This gives you a practical check against the figures your team already uses.
- 5
Switch off Kinetic
Once you have checked the new system against Kinetic and are satisfied with the records you need, move the shop work to Job Shop and switch off Kinetic when you are ready. Keep your accounting system in place for the general ledger and related accounting work. Do not treat this change as a replacement for Kinetic’s accounting functions, advanced scheduling or machine data collection.
Where the real effort goes
The real work is usually mapping your own fields and rules, then deciding how much history to bring across and checking it. Epicor’s column names need to be matched to Job Shop’s fields, and some records may need separate verification. If Enterprise DNA installs and runs the system for you, they do the mapping part with you.

Questions
Instead of Epicor Kinetic, answered
Epicor Kinetic runs our accounts as well. Do we lose that? expand_more
This replaces the shop side: quotes, jobs, hours, stock, purchasing and job costing. The general ledger, payroll and tax returns belong in an accounting system. Many shops our size already keep Xero or MYOB for that, and Enterprise DNA connects it so drafted invoices flow straight in.
We use Kinetic's advanced scheduling and machine data. Is this for us? expand_more
Probably not yet. If you finite-schedule many machines by the hour or collect data straight off equipment, keep what you have. This fits shops that bought a full ERP and mostly use the jobs, hours and costing, and would rather own that part outright.
How do our records come out of Epicor Kinetic? expand_more
Kinetic lets you export saved queries and lists to Excel or CSV, so customers, parts, suppliers and open jobs leave as spreadsheet files. Those files use Epicor's own column names, so mapping them is part of what Enterprise DNA does, or you ask Claude Code to map them and do a test run first.
We are part way through a contract. When should we switch? expand_more
Use the time left to run both side by side on live jobs. By the time the contract ends, the new system has already been checked against Kinetic's numbers and the change is a non-event.
Does everyone on the floor need a login we pay for? expand_more
No. Hours and material issues go in as one typed line from any computer pointed at your database, and nobody is counted or sorted into a user type.
