The subscription

A monthly fee per farm, and the good parts sit higher up

FarmIQ prices each farm on one of four packs. What you can record depends on the pack, and the records are your farm's history. Public NZ pricing checked on 27 September 2026.

payments

A fee for every farm

Each farm is billed monthly on its own pack. A second and third farm get 25% off, not a free ride.

layers

Stock recording starts at Essentials

NAIT reporting, stock changes and animal health treatments begin on the NZ$84 a month pack. Lite covers the map, the diary, health and safety and farm plans.

pets

Mobs and liveweights at Performance+

Mob-based recording, movements, liveweights and the stock reconciliation sit on the NZ$190 a month pack.

badge

Individual animals at Pro

EID recording, animal history and draft lists are on the NZ$249 a month pack, NZ$2,988 a year for one farm.

map

The map and the phone app

Every pack carries the farm map and the phone app. That front end is most of what the subscription pays for.

school

Setup help and training

Having FarmIQ draw your farm map costs a small fee, and on-site training for your team is paid.

Your version

The records behind the jobs that carry a fine

NAIT

Nothing slips past 48 hours

Every cattle and deer movement on or off the farm shows as due the day it happens and overdue the day after the window closes.

  • check Movements due, recorded late or overdue, with the other NAIT location
  • check Calves and fawns past 180 days with no tag or registration
  • check The 31 July declaration of sheep and other cloven-hoofed animals
  • check A mob move off the farm refused until the other NAIT location is entered

The works

Know what can go on the truck

Each sale plan is checked against treatment dates, the ASD and the destination before a single head comes off the book.

  • check Meat withholding clear dates per mob, the day after the last withholding day
  • check Unknown withholding periods block the sale until someone reads the label
  • check No ASD reference, no release
  • check Stricter than a warning you can click past

Nitrogen and sprays

The cap and the spray diary in one place

Every fertiliser application adds up per hectare for the season, and every spray puts its paddock on a grazing hold.

  • check Synthetic N per hectare since 1 July against the 190 kg cap
  • check Paddocks near the cap flagged before the next round of urea
  • check Spray records need rate, operator and wind
  • check A mob will not move onto a paddock still on a spray hold

The audit pack

Ready when the assessor turns up

Health and safety, the farm plan and the stock book in one working pack in your farm's name.

  • check Hazards not reviewed in a year and notifiable events with no WorkSafe reference
  • check Freshwater farm plan actions, due dates and the evidence that closed them
  • check Treatment records with batch, ACVM number and operator
  • check Your own questions across every record, answered in plain English

What it looks like

Ask it like you would ask a colleague

Real runs on a fictional Hawke's Bay farm. Two sale plans blocked for different reasons, one paddock over the nitrogen cap, and a deer transfer still inside its NAIT window.

Switching

How to switch from FarmIQ

The move happens inside your own database: you export what FarmIQ lets you download, load it as a test first, check what came across, then run both systems side by side until the numbers agree before you turn FarmIQ off.

  1. 1

    Export your FarmIQ records

FarmIQ lets you download reports as CSV or Excel, depending on what your account allows, so check with FarmIQ if you are not sure. Download paddocks, mobs, tagged animals, treatments, weights and fertiliser records, these are the reports that come across into the new system. Movement history, the farm map and kill sheets do not transfer, so plan separately for that history.

  2. 2

    Run a test import first

Before you load anything for real, run the import as a test. It checks every row, and if one row is wrong it rolls back the whole batch rather than leaving you with a half-loaded set of records. Fix whatever it flags in your FarmIQ files, then run the test again until it passes clean, before you load the real data.

  3. 3

    Check what the import flags

Once the real import runs, look at what it brought across and what it did not. Paddocks, mobs, tagged animals, treatments, weights and fertiliser should be there. Movement history, the map and kill sheets will not be, along with anything your account did not export. Note the gaps so you or Enterprise DNA can fill them in by hand.

  4. 4

Run both systems side by side

Keep your FarmIQ files and keep FarmIQ running for a while. Record in both places and compare the stock reconciliation, opening numbers to closing numbers, until they agree. This is how you catch a mapping mistake or a missing paddock before it becomes the only record you have. Do not switch off FarmIQ until the two match.

  5. 5

    Switch off FarmIQ

Once the reconciliation agrees and you trust the new records for a full farm cycle, cancel your FarmIQ subscription. Keep the exported files as a backup even after you cancel. From here, the database you own is the record, and FarmIQ is no longer needed for the day to day running of the farm.

construction

Where the real effort goes

The real work is not the export, it is mapping your own paddocks, stock classes, rest periods and product withholding periods into the new system, and deciding how much FarmIQ history you actually need to bring across versus leave behind. That mapping and the gap filling after import is where time goes. Enterprise DNA does this part when they set up and run your own version.

Questions

Instead of FarmIQ, answered

Is this cheaper than FarmIQ? expand_more

The free version has no licence fee; your agent subscription, hosting and time are separate. FarmIQ is NZ$1,008 a year on Essentials and NZ$2,988 on Pro for one farm, so the saving alone is modest. The reason to switch is owning the records and having them catch mistakes. We compare the scope with your actual FarmIQ bill before recommending anything.

Does it record movements in NAIT for me? expand_more

No. It shows every cattle and deer movement that still needs recording, and the day it must be done by. The recording itself stays in NAIT. A connection can be scoped into your own version.

Can I bring my FarmIQ history across? expand_more

Reports you download from FarmIQ and save as a spreadsheet file come across in one step after a test run: paddocks, a mob list, tagged animals, treatments, weights and fertiliser. Movement history, the map and kill sheets do not. We map and check the rest when we do the move for you.

My team records in the paddock on their phones. What happens to that? expand_more

The free version works in the farm office, not in the paddock. We build a phone form or a map into your own version when the team needs one, around the jobs they actually record.

The government may drop the 190 kg nitrogen cap. Does that break it? expand_more

No. The cap is a number set for each farm. If the rule changes, your regional council tells you and the number changes with it, or the check is switched off. The fertiliser records stay either way.
