The plans

What Optomate charges

Optomate charges A$300 a location a month before tax for its Core plan, which comes to A$3,600 a year for a single store. On top of that, Medicare and DVA claiming costs A$25 a month, health fund claiming another A$25, and web bookings A$10, so the bill grows with every extra thing your practice needs to get paid or booked.

How the bill is built

group

Priced per store

The A$300 monthly Core fee applies to a single location. Open a second practice or take over a branch and the same fee starts again from scratch for that store, on top of whatever the first one already costs.

extension

Claiming sold as an add-on

Claiming Medicare and DVA from inside Optomate costs A$25 a month extra, and claiming the health funds is another A$25. The claims that actually bring money into the practice are not part of the base fee.

build

Extras for the everyday

Web bookings run A$10 a month, frame trace storage another A$10, text messages eight cents each, and document storage past the free allowance is charged monthly too, all stacking on top of the store fee.

autorenew

Bigger needs on request

ePrescribing and multi-location setups are not on the public price list and are quoted on request, so the fee for a growing or connected practice depends on a conversation rather than a published rate.

calendar_month

A year of Optomate

What a store, or a group of stores, adds up to

A single store on Optomate runs A$3,600 to A$4,700 a year once claiming, bookings and messaging are added on top of the A$300 monthly Core fee. Three stores together land between A$11,000 and A$14,000 a year, because the store fee resets for every location, and the add-ons that let you get paid and book patients online are charged again on each one.

Underneath the bill

What you are really paying for

dashboard

Rent on the front end

The patient files, prescriptions and claims are your practice's own records, but the A$300 monthly fee pays for the screens you look at them through. Stop paying and you lose the front end, not the underlying facts.

lock

Access to your own history

Years of examinations, prescriptions and recalls sit inside Optomate, and getting them out means running reports and asking the vendor for your own data. That difficulty is a large part of why practices keep paying.

history

Claiming as a separate fee

The claims that actually pay the practice, Medicare, DVA and the health funds, are not included in the Core plan. They cost A$25 a month each on top of the A$300 store fee, so getting paid costs extra.

Questions

Optomate pricing, answered

How much will Optomate cost if we open a second location? expand_more

The A$300 a month Core fee applies per location, so a second store starts its own A$300 monthly charge from scratch. Add-ons such as claiming and web bookings are also charged again for each store, which is why three stores together can run to A$11,000 to A$14,000 a year.

Why does claiming cost extra on top of the monthly fee? expand_more

Medicare, DVA and private health claiming are sold as separate add-ons at A$25 a month each, on top of the A$300 store fee. The claims that actually bring money into the practice are not included in the base plan, so most practices end up paying for them anyway.

Can we get our patient records out if we ever leave Optomate? expand_more

Optomate does not publish an export path, and getting years of examinations, prescriptions and recalls out means running reports and asking the vendor for your own data. That difficulty is a large part of why practices stay on the monthly fee rather than move elsewhere.
