Instead of PacsoftNG

Stop renting PacsoftNG. Own your marina system.

We build your version around your piers, your berth licence and the way your office and yard work, bring your PacsoftNG berth holders and contracts across and run it for you.

PacsoftNG prices by the size and complexity of your marina, and sells rental, accounting, boatyard, customer portal and payment features as add-on modules. The price is quoted privately.

What the licence covers

You pay for the size of your marina, then again for each part of it

Pacsoft does not publish a price. Its own pages say how the bill is built, and most of it is screens over berth, boat and invoice records you already own.

straighten

A price set by the size of your marina

Pacsoft says PacsoftNG pricing is based on the size and complexity of your marina. More berths and more ways of running them mean a bigger quote.

extension

A module for each part of the business

Rental and recurring charges, finance and accounting, the boatyard haul-out module, the customer portal and MarinaPay are add-on modules on top of the Core module.

group_add

Seats and modules as you grow

The cloud version scales by adding user seats and extra service modules. Another person in the office or a new service in the yard is another line on the bill.

cloud

A hosting subscription

Cloud-hosted PacsoftNG is a subscription, reached from any device that supports a Microsoft Remote connection. You pay to reach your own records over a remote desktop.

credit_card

Card payments with fees on top

Card charging through the finance module lists third-party services and fees on top, and online invoice payment adds web hosting and third-party fees.

map

A drawn map of your piers

The Visual Marina screen shows who is on which berth in colour. Underneath it is a list of berths and the licence on each, which is a question you can simply ask.

Your own marina office

Start with what the marina manager and the yard ask every morning

Berths

Know who is where, what is free and who gets it

Every berth, mooring and dry stack space with the licence covering today, and the waiting list matched against what is free.

  • check Free spaces that take a given length and beam, answered in one question
  • check The waiting list matched to free berths, longest wait first, smallest berth that fits
  • check Licences ending with no renewal, with how many people are waiting for each berth
  • check A boat refused a berth it is too long or too wide for, or a second berth

Papers and rules

Check every boat against your berth licence

Eight rules from your berth licence, the lifting regulations and the biosecurity standard, each with its source.

  • check Lapsed insurance, and third-party cover under your licence minimum
  • check Boats on shore power with their electrical check out of date
  • check Boats in from overseas with no biofouling evidence on file
  • check Unsigned licences, boats too long for their berth, and liveaboards with no approval

The yard

Run the travel lift and the hardstand without surprises

Haul-outs, the hardstand and yard jobs in one place, with the lift checked before every booking.

  • check A booking refused on a lift whose certificate of inspection has expired
  • check Every past lift checked against the certificate in force that day
  • check Boats past their agreed launch date, with the jobs still holding them
  • check Yard jobs tracked against the quote before they are invoiced

Billing

One invoice run that never bills twice

Berth fees, visitor nights, the lift, hardstand days, shore power and yard jobs drafted together, one invoice per customer.

  • check A test run first that shows every invoice before anything is saved
  • check Shore power billed from the last billed meter reading to the latest
  • check Tax invoices, berth licence schedules and statements in your own brand
  • check Who owes what, aged, with the berth they are on and the invoices behind it

Switching

How to switch from PacsoftNG

In practice, the move involves exporting your berth holder or contract list, mapping it into Marina, checking the results, and running both systems side by side before you switch.

  1. 1

    Export your records

Export your berth holder or contract list from PacsoftNG as a spreadsheet. The import uses those records to create customers, boats, berths and licences. Pacsoft says you can export your data, and the guide uses a CSV export. Available reports can vary, so check with PacsoftNG about what your account allows and which list best reflects your current records.

  2. 2

    Load a test run

Set up your Marina settings and lifts, then load the PacsoftNG export using Marina’s import process. Start with a test run, which shows what would come across before anything is saved. The spreadsheet is mapped into customers, boats, berths and licences. If Enterprise DNA is running Marina for you, they map your report layout and check the import as part of that work.

  3. 3

    Review the import results

Check what the test run reports before saving the records. Confirm that customers, boats, berths and licences have landed in the right places, and follow up on anything the import flags or does not map as expected. Report layouts vary between sites, so check the result berth by berth. Old invoices stay in your accounting system, while amounts still owing come across.

  4. 4

    Run both side by side

Keep PacsoftNG running while you compare Marina with your current records. Put Marina’s berth board next to PacsoftNG’s berth plan and compare a dry run of Marina’s invoice run with PacsoftNG’s next billing run. Use a short period of parallel checking to find differences in records or rules before you rely on Marina for day-to-day work.

  5. 5

    Switch off PacsoftNG

When you have checked the imported records and are satisfied with the side-by-side comparisons, move your day-to-day marina work to Marina and switch off PacsoftNG. Keep your old invoices in your accounting system, since they do not come across as part of the import. If something is still owing, confirm that it appears in Marina before you stop using PacsoftNG.

construction

Where the real effort goes

Most of the work is mapping your own fields and rules, checking how your PacsoftNG reports are laid out, and deciding which history you need to bring across. Old invoices remain in your accounting system, so the move is not a full invoice-history transfer. If you have Enterprise DNA install and run Marina, they handle the mapping and import checks for you.

Questions

Instead of PacsoftNG, answered

Our office lives on the berth map. What replaces it? expand_more

In the free version the berth board is a list you ask about: who is on each berth, what is free, what takes a 14 metre boat. It also prints as a page each morning. If your office wants a drawn map of the piers, or berth holders want to book online, we build that into your version on the same records.

How do our berth holders and contracts come across from PacsoftNG? expand_more

Pacsoft says data can be exported from PacsoftNG. Your berth holder or contract list, saved as a spreadsheet, comes in as customers, boats, berths and licences. A test run shows what will come across before anything is saved, and running it twice does not double anything. Report layouts vary between sites, so on the paid paths we map yours and check the result berth by berth. Old invoices stay in your accounting system: only what is still owing comes across.

We take card payments and direct debits through PacsoftNG. What happens to those? expand_more

The free version records payments against invoices and keeps the balance, but it does not charge cards. In your version we connect the payment provider and the accounting system you already use, so payments land against the right invoice without retyping.

Does this make us compliant? expand_more

It checks your records against eight rules, from insurance and liability cover to lift certificates, biofouling evidence and signed licences, and names the source of each. Your berth licence, your insurer and the regulators still set the rules. It makes sure the evidence is on file before a storm, an incident or an audit asks for it.

What do we pay Enterprise DNA? expand_more

The code is free. A version built and run for your marina has one setup fee, then a retainer. Sam looks at your PacsoftNG bill, your piers and how your office and yard work before agreeing the scope.

Own the records behind every berth on your piers

Take 30 minutes with Sam to go through your PacsoftNG bill, your berth plan and how a boat moves from the waiting list to the invoice run. We map your marina and agree what your version needs before you change anything.
