Enterprise DNA

Instead of Petbooqz

Outgrowing your Petbooqz user band? Own your vet practice system.

Enterprise DNA builds your practice a system shaped around how your team books, treats and charges, brings your Petbooqz records over, and looks after it from then on. Hire a tenth staff member without the monthly fee stepping up.

Petbooqz publishes its prices ex GST: A$550 a month for 3 to 9 concurrent users, A$750 a month for 10 to 19, and A$20 a month for each concurrent user over 20, after a setup fee of A$1,500 or A$2,500.

Where the money goes

Petbooqz is priced on logins at the same moment, then a list of one-off and hourly extras

The monthly fee follows how many people are signed in at once: A$95 for one or two, A$550 for three to nine, A$750 for ten to nineteen. That is A$9,000 a year on the Expanding band before conversion, training or portals. What sits underneath is clients, animals, appointments, hospital charts, charges and reminders.

groups

A fee that steps up with your roster

Go from nine people signed in to ten and the monthly charge moves from A$550 to A$750. Past twenty, every extra concurrent user adds A$20 a month.

hourglass_bottom

A start-up rate that expires

The Start Up band is A$300 a month for the first six months, then A$550. The discount ends on a date, whether the practice has grown or not.

sync_alt

Getting your history in costs extra

Setup and the perpetual licence are A$1,500 on most bands and A$2,500 for twenty users or more. Data conversion is quoted from a further A$1,500.

school

Training charged by the hour and the day

After the first onboarding, remote training is A$100 an hour. On-site is A$500 for a half day or A$950 for a full day, plus travel.

storefront

Boarding and online shop, sold separately

The boarding and ecommerce portals come with Large and Multi-practice. Every smaller band pays A$65 a month to switch them on.

sms

Every reminder text is metered

Emails and replies are free, but each SMS you send is charged per text. The more carefully you chase vaccinations, the higher that line gets.

What your practice gets

A practice record with no user count, and the inspector's questions answered

Headcount

Ten people or thirty, the same arrangement

Vets, nurses, reception and the practice manager all work in one set of records. Hiring is a staffing decision, not a pricing tier.

  • check No concurrent-user limit and no step up when a busy Saturday puts everyone on at once
  • check A relief vet or a student nurse starts on the day, with nothing to license
  • check A second branch runs from the same records without a per-branch setup charge
  • check Anyone can ask a question in plain English: what is booked, who owes, what is low on the shelf

Recalls

Reminders you work through, not texts you pay for

The recall list is built from the records themselves and comes out as a list your team can ring through.

  • check Ask which animals are overdue a vaccination with nothing booked, and get names with phone numbers
  • check See which patients have drifted away over 18 months, ranked by what they have spent with you
  • check Send reminders through the channel you already pay for, or have Enterprise DNA connect one
  • check Owner statements, vaccination certificates and clinical histories carry your practice name and logo

Clinical

The rules checked before a consult closes

The checks a practice is held to are part of how appointments are booked and consults are finished.

  • check A vet whose practising certificate has lapsed cannot be put in the book for that day
  • check Surgery and dental work cannot be finished without consent recorded, and no consult closes without notes
  • check Every controlled drug in or out is a register line with a running balance that cannot be edited later
  • check Count the shelf on any day and see which drug does not match the register, and by how much

Yours

Records you can read without asking anyone

Petbooqz already promises your data stays yours. Here, the records sit in a database the practice holds itself, readable any day by any tool.

  • check Bring your Petbooqz client and patient lists across and see what did not match on the way in
  • check Finished work that never became an invoice is listed by vet and by how long it has waited
  • check Change a field, a reminder rule or a printed document by describing it
  • check Open source under the MIT licence: nothing to renew and no vendor to leave

Switching

How to switch from Petbooqz

Moving off Petbooqz means exporting what their support gives you, mapping it onto the layout the free tool reads, and running both systems side by side until you trust the new one.

  1. 1

    Export your records from Petbooqz

Petbooqz says your data is always yours, but it doesn't publish a full client and patient export guide. Ask their support for a complete export of clients, patients and history before you give notice. Export whatever your account allows, and check with Petbooqz on exactly what a full export includes.

  2. 2

Load the records with a test run

Vet Clinic for Claude Code reads records in the layout ezyVet exports to, so your Petbooqz columns need mapping onto that layout before anything loads. Enterprise DNA handles this mapping when you have them run it, or Claude Code can do it with you in plain language. Test the load first, nothing counts as loaded until you run it again for real.

  3. 3

    Check what the import flags

The import doubles as the first audit. It will flag things straight away, an animal whose owner is missing from the export, or a patient with no microchip on record. Work through what gets flagged before you treat the new system as your record of truth.

  4. 4

Run both systems side by side

Keep Petbooqz running for a short period while the team works in the new system day to day. Book appointments, run consults and check stock in both so you can compare what each one shows before you commit fully. This is the window to catch any mapping mistakes while Petbooqz is still there as the reference copy.

  5. 5

    Switch off Petbooqz

Once the two systems agree and the team is comfortable asking questions in plain English instead of clicking through Petbooqz screens, cancel the Petbooqz subscription. Keep your exported files somewhere safe regardless, the record of where you started is worth holding onto even after you're off the monthly fee.

construction

Where the real effort goes

The real work isn't the switch itself, it's mapping your Petbooqz fields and rules onto the new record correctly, and deciding how much history to bring across rather than just the current book. Ask Petbooqz support exactly what a full export includes before you start. Enterprise DNA does this mapping and the install for you if you have them run it.

Questions

Instead of Petbooqz, answered

Petbooqz already says our data is ours. Why move? expand_more

It does, and that is to its credit. The difference is where the records live and what you pay to use them. Here they sit in a database your practice holds, the monthly fee does not rise with how many staff are signed in, and every change you want is a sentence rather than a request to the vendor.

How do we get our records out of Petbooqz? expand_more

Petbooqz commits to keeping your data accessible and exportable, and its site shows payments exporting to spreadsheet files. It does not publish a guide for a full client and patient export, so ask their support what a complete export includes before you give notice. The free version reads ezyVet's export layout; mapping Petbooqz columns onto it is part of what Enterprise DNA does, or you can ask Claude Code to map them.

We are a small practice on the Mobile plan. Is this for us? expand_more

Probably not on price. At A$95 a month for one or two users, Petbooqz is inexpensive, and we will say so on the call. The case gets stronger at three users and up, where the fee is A$550 a month, and again past ten.

What about hospital charts, boarding and lab machines? expand_more

The free version covers the book, consults, vaccinations, stock, money and the drug register, and records what the clinic enters. It does not include hospital charts, a boarding module or lab connections. When Enterprise DNA builds your version, those are added for the way your practice works.

Will our team need training at an hourly rate? expand_more

No. The team asks questions in plain English and gets short lists back. Enterprise DNA shows your people how it works as part of the build, and ongoing help is in the retainer, not billed by the hour.

Grow the team without growing the software bill

30 minutes with Sam. We look at your Petbooqz band and extras, what your staff actually use each day, and what your own version would cover. If it makes sense, we build it and bring your records across. If it does not, you are welcome to the free version.
