Switching

How to switch from Salesforce Media Cloud

A move usually means exporting a placement detail report, mapping its columns, reconciling records the import does not carry, then checking the new desk alongside Salesforce before cutover.

  1. 1

    Export the placement detail report

In Salesforce Media Cloud, export a placement detail report using the options available to your account. The documented path is a Salesforce Details Only CSV report. If your account offers a different format, use what it allows, usually CSV or Excel, and check with Salesforce Media Cloud. Include the information needed to identify advertisers, publications, orders and placements.

  2. 2

    Map and test the records

Map the report columns to the new desk's fields. The free version can bring advertiser, publication, order and placement records across. Run the test import first. It shows what the import would bring across without saving rows. Review the result, correct the mapping if needed, then load the records.

  3. 3

    Review flagged records and history

Check the import results before relying on the new records. Unchanged repeat rows are skipped, while changed rows stop for reconciliation. Imported orders stay in draft until their evidence is reviewed. Approvals, attachments, serving history and makegoods do not come across in this import, so reconcile those separately and decide which history you need to retain.

  4. 4

Run both systems side by side

Use the new desk alongside Salesforce Media Cloud for a short period. Compare selected advertisers, orders and placements, and check the imported details against your source records. Reconcile current delivery against serving reports, since the desk only shows records you supply. Keep your serving and finance systems in place during this check.

  5. 5

    Switch off Salesforce Media Cloud

When you have checked the records and agreed how to handle the history that did not import, move the team's internal order and delivery work to the new desk. Switch off Salesforce Media Cloud only after you are comfortable with the cutover. The new desk does not serve advertisements or replace your finance systems, so keep those systems running.

construction

Where the real effort goes

The main work is mapping your own Salesforce fields to the new desk and deciding which approvals, attachments, delivery history and makegoods to reconcile or retain. The import preserves original rows, but those records do not all come across as working data. If you have Enterprise DNA install and run the desk, they handle the field mapping and import setup with you.

Questions

Instead of Salesforce Media Cloud, answered

Does this replace every part of Salesforce Media Cloud? expand_more

The free base covers the internal advertising order and delivery desk. Your serving systems keep placing and measuring advertisements. Enterprise DNA scopes the connections, screens and additional commercial processes around what your publisher uses.

How do our Salesforce records come across? expand_more

Export a placement detail report, then map its columns once. The free version brings advertiser, publication, order and placement records across and keeps the original rows. Approvals, attachments, delivery history and makegoods need separate reconciliation. Imported orders stay in draft until the evidence is reviewed.

Can we trust the delivery and makegood figures? expand_more

Every daily delivery entry needs a source report reference. Duplicate daily entries are rejected. Replacement impressions stay separate and need their own completion evidence. The desk shows the records you supply, so reconcile serving reports before closing an order.

What does it cost to have our version built? expand_more

The code is free to run yourself, with your own hosting and operating costs. Enterprise DNA charges one setup fee, then a retainer for the agreed work. Your publisher keeps its database and can have the fields, approval rules and screens shaped around its process.

Are the creative and privacy checks a compliance sign-off? expand_more

They identify missing review dates and evidence references. A person still reviews the creative, substantiation and record retention. Enterprise DNA can build your review rules into the workflow, including the steps your own advisers require.
