Enterprise DNA

Instead of Tall Emu

Stop paying Tall Emu per login. Own your sales and stock system.

Enterprise DNA builds your version around how your reps sell, your warehouse picks and your office invoices, brings your Tall Emu customers, products and stock across, and looks after it from then on. Nobody is billed per seat.

Tall Emu lists A$95 per user per month, billed annually plus GST, a A$3,500 one-off onboarding fee, and A$30 a month for each Warehouse, Delivery or Jobs app user.

Where the money goes

One flat plan, then six separate meters

Tall Emu is honest that it has no tiers or locked modules. The charges sit around the plan instead: people, phone app users, freight volume and support time. At A$95 a user a month, each login is A$1,140 a year before anything else.

groups

Every login, paid a year ahead

A$95 per user per month, billed annually in Australian dollars plus GST. The person who only checks stock costs the same as your top seller.

build

A$3,500 before the first order

Onboarding is a one-off A$3,500 per company for data migration, configuration and around ten hours of training. Tall Emu calls it a done-for-you service, and it is still a cheque you write up front.

smartphone

A second meter for the phone apps

The Warehouse, Delivery and Jobs apps are A$30 a month per app user. Your pickers and drivers are counted again, on top of the office logins.

local_shipping

Freight priced by the consignment

Twenty consignments a month are free. Past that, Freight Hub is A$99, A$199 or A$349 a month billed annually, and going over your allowance is charged at an overage rate the page does not state.

support_agent

Help sold in 15-minute blocks

Pay-as-you-go support is A$250 an hour plus GST, in 15-minute increments, unless it is a genuine software fault. Managed Support is A$399 a month on an annual agreement.

code

Your own changes quoted as projects

A field, a report or a workflow that Tall Emu does not ship is custom development, quoted separately at a fixed scope.

What you get instead

One record of customers, stock and orders that belongs to you

No meter

Growing the team does not grow the bill

Reps, pickers, drivers and the accounts office all work from the same records, with no count of users or app users anywhere.

  • check No charge per login, per phone app user or per consignment
  • check A temp in the warehouse for Christmas starts without a licence or an annual commitment
  • check Anyone asks in everyday English, from the dock to the owner's desk
  • check A new field or report is something you describe, not a fixed-scope quote

Customers

Know which accounts are slipping before the rep does

Follow-up tasks are kept against the customer, beside what they order and what they owe.

  • check Regulars who have gone quiet, named with what they used to buy each month
  • check Each customer's own price or price level applied as the order is keyed, with the match written on the line
  • check Follow-up tasks with due dates, and a list of the ones already late
  • check Accounts over their credit limit once unbilled goods are counted, not just open invoices

Stock and orders

Short orders flagged, with or without stock on the way

Available stock is built from every receipt, dispatch, count and adjustment, each one carrying a reason.

  • check On hand, committed, free and on order for each product in each warehouse
  • check Back orders sorted into ones with a purchase order due and ones with nothing ordered
  • check A reorder list built from reorder points, open demand and each supplier's lead time
  • check Invoices drafted only for goods that left the building, GST on its own line

Yours outright

Your name on the paperwork, your records in your hands

The records sit in a database you control, and the documents come out under your brand.

  • check Bring your Tall Emu customers, products and stock levels across, checked as they land
  • check Your logo and GST number on tax invoices, picking slips, purchase orders and price lists
  • check Checks for signed terms of trade and PPSR registration on every credit account
  • check MIT licence, so nothing to renew and no vendor to leave

Switching

How to switch from Tall Emu

In practice, the move involves getting a full export, mapping it to the new records, checking import warnings, then running both systems together before cutover.

  1. 1

Ask Tall Emu for a full export

Before giving notice, ask Tall Emu in writing what a full export of your account includes. Request customers, contacts, products, stock levels, open orders and price lists. Tall Emu does not publish an export guide, so check what your account allows and ask Tall Emu how to get the records you need.

  2. 2

    Load the records you need

Map the export columns to the new records, then start with the import's test run before loading anything. Bring across the records the import accepts, including customers, products and stock. This gives you a chance to check how the files line up before you use the loaded records for day to day work.

  3. 3

    Review the import warnings

Check what the import flags, including fields that did not map or records it could not load. Open orders, customer price deals and sales history do not come across through the import. Decide which history you need, re-enter open orders and price deals you still rely on, and make sure the opening stock reflects the stock you are carrying.

  4. 4

Run both systems side by side

Keep Tall Emu running while you use the new system for a short period. Compare the records your team depends on, such as stock levels and open orders, and investigate differences before relying on the new system alone. Use this period to confirm that staff can find the records they need and follow the new process.

  5. 5

    Switch off Tall Emu

Once the team has checked the new records and is comfortable using them, move day to day work to the new system. Confirm that any open orders you still need have been re-entered and that you have saved the Tall Emu exports you want to keep. Then arrange to end your Tall Emu account.

Where the real effort goes

The real work is usually mapping Tall Emu's columns to the new records, matching your own fields and rules, and deciding how much history to bring across. Open orders and price deals need deliberate handling, and sales history does not import. If Enterprise DNA installs and runs your version, Enterprise DNA handles the mapping and setup as part of that work.

Questions

Instead of Tall Emu, answered

Tall Emu does quotes, a sales pipeline and manufacturing. Does the free version? expand_more

No. The free version covers customers and their history, stock, orders, purchasing, back orders and the billing run. Quoting, a pipeline of deals and work orders for manufacturing are things Enterprise DNA builds into your version if you use them, shaped to how your team actually quotes and makes.

How do we get our records out of Tall Emu? expand_more

Tall Emu does not publish an export guide, so ask them in writing what a full export of your account includes before you give notice: customers, contacts, products, stock levels, open orders and price lists. The free version expects a different column layout, so mapping Tall Emu's files is part of the work when we build your version.

Our customers order through the Tall Emu portal. What happens to that? expand_more

The free version has no customer portal: orders come in by phone or email and are keyed in. If your trade customers order themselves, Enterprise DNA builds a portal onto your version that reads the same records and prices.

We already paid A$3,500 for onboarding. Is switching worth it? expand_more

That fee is spent either way, so the question is what the next few years cost. On the call we add up your users, app users, freight plan and support with you. If Tall Emu is the cheaper path for your size, we will tell you.

Does the team need to learn anything technical? expand_more

No. They ask the way they would ask a colleague: who has not ordered in six weeks, what is short for tomorrow's run, what went out and has not been billed. Enterprise DNA does the setup and keeps it running.

Same customers, same stock, no per-login bill

30 minutes with Sam. We look at what Tall Emu costs you a year across users, app users, freight and support, which parts your team leans on, and what your own version would hold. If it fits, we build it and bring your records across. If not, the free version is yours to keep.
