A cluster of posts went up in the last two days showing people how to route Moonshot’s Kimi K3, a 2.8 trillion-parameter model, through TokenRouter at zero cost and drop it straight into tools like Cursor, Claude Code, Cline, and Aider. No credit card. No API key dance. At least one account positioned it explicitly as a way to cancel a $20-a-month Claude subscription. The free tier runs through August 5, according to the original thread.

This matters because it is not one viral post. It is four or more unrelated accounts posting near-identical walkthroughs in 48 hours, which means the behaviour is spreading horizontally through developer communities faster than any single influencer could push it. That pattern suggests people are testing it, finding it works, and reposting the recipe without waiting for permission or a press release.

What it means for you

If your team codes with AI assistants, someone will try this. The question is whether you want them running company work through a free tier that expires in two months, with no SLA and no idea where the logs go. The technical barrier is low enough that individual contributors will route around procurement if the setup is faster than filing a ticket.
