Claude Code just got more interesting for anyone running a team that writes software or handles data work. A new feature called “Agent Teams” lets you spin up multiple coordinated Claude Code sessions that work together on the same problem, and it’s gated behind the Opus tier. What matters is that people are now sharing replicable how-to posts instead of just talking about the concept.

This is not theoretical. The technique mirrors swarm and agent-team patterns that developers already use in production work. You set up one Claude session as a coordinator and others as specialists, each handling a slice of the task. One agent might handle database queries, another writes front-end code, a third runs tests. The coordinator keeps them aligned and merges the output. It’s faster than waiting for one session to finish before starting the next, and it reduces the bottleneck when you’re juggling multiple parts of a build.

The practical question is whether your team has enough concurrent work to justify the Opus cost and the setup overhead. If you’re running one-off scripts or small fixes, a single session is fine. If you’re building features that touch multiple systems or need parallel research and implementation, this starts to pay off. The pattern also fits into broader command centre setups, where you might already be routing different types of requests to different AI models or sessions based on what the task needs.
