The play

Publish a live multi-day agent build trace on GitHub if you want credibility for agentic coding claims, benchmarks alone no longer convince buyers.

Alibaba just published something unusual: a 500-commit GitHub repository showing its Qwen3.8-Max model coding autonomously for ten days straight, starting from an empty folder and ending with a working production CLI tool. The full trace is public. You can watch the model debug, refactor, and ship.

This matters less for what the tool does and more for what Alibaba chose to prove. Labs used to launch models with benchmark scores and a few cherry-picked demos. Now the credibility bar has shifted. If you claim your model can code autonomously, people expect a long, messy, auditable trace, not a highlight reel. Qwen’s ten-day log is a go-to-market stunt, but it is an effective one. It says “here is the unedited work, judge for yourself.” Other labs will follow.

For business owners, this changes how you evaluate agent tooling. A vendor showing you a polished three-minute demo is not enough anymore. Ask for logs. Ask how the agent handled failure, how many retries it needed, whether it got stuck. The Qwen trace shows plenty of dead ends and corrections, which makes it more credible than a perfect run would have been. If you are building or buying agentic systems, that kind of transparency should be table stakes.

What this means for your operations

If you are already running agents in-house, start logging their decision chains the same way. When something breaks at 2 a.m., you will want the full trace, not a summary. If you are evaluating third-party agent platforms, ask if they surface that level of detail. The kind of observability Alibaba just published is exactly what we build into the Omni Command Centre, so you can see what your agents did, why they did it, and where they went off course. It is not flashy, but it is the difference between trusting a black box and actually managing a system.
