The play

Pilot isolated agent workspaces with credential gateways, browser visibility, durable logs, and artifact handoffs before expanding autonomous operations.

A small open-source project called useagent is drawing attention because it shows a more practical shape for AI agents at work. Instead of treating an agent as a chat window, it gives each session its own isolated cloud sandbox, a browser view through noVNC, and a durable log of what happened. The agent can work inside that environment and return completed artefacts, rather than just a list of instructions for someone else to carry out.

The security detail matters. useagent uses a credential gateway so secrets stay outside the sandbox where the agent is operating. That is closer to how a real business should think about AI work. You want clear boundaries around access, visibility into actions taken, and records you can review when something goes wrong. The project is only four days old, but its early GitHub activity and commit history suggest it is worth watching as a reference pattern, not as a proven production tool.

For operators, the bigger signal is the move from “ask AI a question” to “give AI a controlled workspace and a defined job.” That could mean preparing reports, gathering material for a proposal, testing a workflow, or producing a first draft of an operational document, with the work recorded and the result handed back for review. This is the kind of thing we build into an AI command centre, where agents need defined permissions, visible workspaces, and accountable outputs.
