The play
Use provenance checks for client-facing content where authorship matters, while documenting that detection results are signals rather than definitive proof.
Anthropic launched claude.com/check-content this week, a public tool framed around checking whether content was made with Claude. It is a quiet release, but the timing matters. Questions about AI-generated material, and the reliability of AI-cited material, are getting more attention from customers, publishers, and businesses.
For an owner or operator, this is less about catching staff using AI and more about being able to stand behind what leaves the business. If you produce client reports, proposals, research, training material, or marketing content with AI involved, clients may increasingly ask how it was created, reviewed, and verified. A public provenance checker could become one part of that conversation, although it is too early to know how accurate, widely accepted, or useful this particular tool will be.
The practical move is to keep a clear internal record of where AI contributed and where a person reviewed the final work. That gives you something more useful than a binary AI label. You can explain the process, show accountability, and protect trust when a client asks questions. This is the kind of thing we build into an AI command centre, with visibility over the work, the tools used, and the checks around important outputs.
This is still one to watch, not a reason to change policy overnight. But provenance is moving from a niche concern to a normal business question.
