Starting September 15, xAI plans to run a public three-day livestream in which participants build a company from scratch using Grok Bot and persistent cloud agents. The format matters as much as the product. Rather than showing a polished demo, xAI is putting its tools in front of people for a longer, visible working session. The announcement positions it squarely in the race for developers choosing between Grok, Claude Code and Codex.

Persistent cloud agents are the key idea here. Instead of an AI assistant helping with one prompt and then losing the thread, the aim is for agents to keep working context and operate over time from the cloud. In practical terms, that could mean an AI system that can stay attached to a project, pick up tasks across days, and support the many small jobs involved in getting a business off the ground.

For owners, don’t get distracted by the livestream theatre. Watch whether the agents can handle real handoffs, keep track of decisions, and produce work that still needs only sensible review rather than constant rebuilding. Those are the signs that AI is moving from a useful chat tool into part of how work gets managed.
