The play
Audit every AI subscription for overlapping capabilities, and consolidate tools when a core product now covers the same operational needs.
Anthropic has folded Cowork, previously positioned as a standalone offering, back into Claude. On the surface, that may sound like a product update. The more useful read for business owners is about packaging. A major AI vendor is choosing to simplify how customers access its product, rather than adding another tier, brand, or separate buying decision. Anthropic explains the change in its announcement.
That matters because many companies treat every new capability as an excuse for a new SKU. A feature becomes an add-on. An add-on becomes a separate product. Before long, customers need to work out which package they need, what overlaps, and whether they are paying twice for similar outcomes. Sales may get a short-term upsell opportunity, but adoption can suffer when the offer is hard to understand.
The better question is not, “Can we charge separately for this?” It’s, “Does separating this make the customer’s job easier or harder?” If a capability is central to the core outcome customers already buy from you, folding it into the main product can make more commercial sense. It reduces confusion, gives customers a clearer reason to use the product more deeply, and keeps your team focused on one experience.
This is also the kind of thing we build into an AI command centre, bringing useful capability into a clear operating setup instead of creating another disconnected tool to manage.
