The play
Trial intent-conflict detection in multi-agent coding projects before expanding parallel agent assignments.
A small new tool called Foremerge is trying to solve a problem that will become very real for software teams using AI coding agents. When several agents work in the same codebase, they can each make sensible changes that conflict with the others. The code may merge cleanly at a technical level, yet the underlying intent can still clash.
Foremerge is designed to spot those intent conflicts before agents collide in a merge. It appeared as a Show HN project and, at the time of writing, has only 19 points and a repo that is just a day old, so this is early work rather than a proven product. You can see the project details in the Foremerge repository.
Still, the problem is worth watching. Most companies experimenting with coding agents start by asking whether an agent can write useful code. The next question is harder: can several agents work safely across the same systems without creating duplicate work, conflicting decisions, or changes nobody properly owns? That is a coordination problem, not simply a code-generation problem.
For operators, the lesson is to plan for controls before scaling the number of agents. You’ll need visibility into what each agent is doing, rules around who can change what, and checks before work gets merged into production. This is the kind of thing we build into an AI command centre, where orchestration matters as much as the individual agent’s output.
