AI Pulse · Under the Radar
The play
When evaluating AI tools, test them on a deterministic business task with clear pass/fail results, not impressive demos alone.
Qwenputer is described as a functioning, deterministic RISC-V CPU built inside Qwen3.5. In other words, the model isn’t just answering questions about a computer. In this experiment, it’s being used to simulate one. The Hacker News post drew 669 points, and commenters called it clever, cool and fascinating. Some also questioned why you’d build a CPU inside a model when a regular computer can do the job. Read the discussion.
The discussion includes both enthusiasm for the experiment and questions about its purpose. One commenter called it an interesting tech demo but superfluous. Others praised the project and its write-up. That contrast is a useful reminder for operators: an unusual AI demonstration is not, by itself, evidence of a practical business application.
For now, this is an experiment that prompts questions about what models can do and why. Teams evaluating AI can use that distinction to think carefully about where model behavior ends and reliable computation begins.
