The play
Pilot automated pricing on one product segment, tracking margin gains alongside software and setup costs before expanding.
Gurtam says it has a custom AI agent running in production to help its Business Development team make pricing and discount decisions. The agent can pull billing and CRM information, run calculations, create Sheets and charts, and route unpaid-invoice questions to a helper bot. It is instructed to label figures by where they came from, such as measured data, CRM records, or estimates.
Over 30 days, the agent produced 339 analytical answers across 222 threads, at a reported total cost of about $133. That’s roughly 39 cents per answer for the primary bot, though helper bots added costs on some queries. The post doesn’t report whether the tool increased revenue, reduced discounting, or saved staff time. So the production numbers show usage and running cost, not whether the project has paid off. One telling detail: the team reserved an expensive model for forecasting, but it wasn’t used at all during the 30-day period. A tool can be technically capable and still miss what users need most.
For an owner considering an internal agent, the useful question isn’t just what it costs to run. It’s whether the team’s actual decisions improve enough to justify building and maintaining it. Owners should connect the tool’s activity and costs to the work it’s meant to support. Read Vadim Friedkin’s post.
