Why We Stopped Teaching Data and Started Building AI

Enterprise DNA started as a data education platform. Now we deploy AI agents, build custom apps, and provide strategic AI advisory for businesses. Here's why.

Sam McKay

I built Enterprise DNA to teach people data skills. Power BI, analytics, the Microsoft stack. Over the past few years, more than 220,000 people have come through our platform to learn how to work with data.

That part is not changing. But something else has changed, and I want to talk about it openly.

The pattern I kept seeing

Every week I talk to business owners. Some are EDNA members, some are new. And the conversation kept going the same way.

“Sam, we have learned the data skills. We understand AI. But we do not have the capacity to actually deploy any of it. We are drowning in operations.”

Emails piling up. Phones going to voicemail. Manual processes everywhere. Staff stretched thin. The knowledge was there but the execution was not.

I heard this from a property manager running 200 units who could not keep up with tenant requests. From a logistics company where the ops team spent half their day on coordination emails. From a dental practice that was missing calls every lunch break.

These were not stupid businesses. They understood the potential. They just could not get there.

The bottleneck is not knowledge anymore. It is operational capacity. And that is when it clicked for me. Enterprise DNA should not just teach people about AI. We should deploy it for them.

The gap between learning and doing

This is the uncomfortable truth about education platforms. You can teach someone everything about AI, give them all the frameworks, show them all the tools. But if they go back to a business that is running at 110% capacity, nothing changes.

The bottleneck is not knowledge anymore. It is operational capacity. We explored this gap in depth in The Gap Between Learning AI and Actually Deploying It.

And that is when it clicked for me. Enterprise DNA should not just teach people about AI. We should deploy it for them.

What Omni actually is

We launched Omni as the services arm of Enterprise DNA. Three things, each solving a different piece of the puzzle.

Omni Ops is an AI agent workforce. We design, build, and manage AI agents that handle real operational work. Monitoring inboxes, coordinating tasks, producing reports, doing research. The stuff that eats up your team’s day.

Omni Apps is custom application development. Using AI-assisted development, we build web and mobile apps for businesses in weeks instead of months. Client portals, internal tools, dashboards, booking systems. Whatever the business needs.

Omni Voice deploys custom-built voice AI employees for your enterprise. From knowledge discovery and internal reporting to admin automation and team communication. Intelligent digital workers that speak, listen, and act. The economics are stark: a full-time receptionist costs ten times more than a voice AI employee, and still leaves 78% of your hours uncovered.

All three are fully managed. We handle the setup, the hosting, the monitoring, and the ongoing optimization. The business just gets the results.

Why this makes sense for us

Some people might wonder why a data education company is now deploying AI agents and building apps. But if you think about it, it is the most natural evolution possible.

We have spent years understanding how businesses use data and AI. We know what works, what does not, and where the real value sits. We have trained 220,000 people across every industry you can think of.

That knowledge does not just belong in a course. It belongs inside the businesses themselves, running 24/7 as agents, apps, and voice systems.

The research on what happens when businesses build that capability is striking. Data-literate organisations are 23 times more likely to acquire customers than competitors who aren’t working with data this way. That is the kind of compounding advantage you get when learning translates into operational capability.

What has not changed

EDNA Learn is still the core of what we do. The courses, the certifications, Mentor, the AI tools, the community. That is not going anywhere.

But now when someone finishes a course and says “this is great, but I need help actually deploying this in my business,” we have an answer.

That is what Omni is. It is the deployment layer for everything we teach.

Where this is going

We are at the very beginning of this. We have a founding partner program limited to the first 10 clients for each Omni service. We are working closely with these businesses to prove the model and build real case studies.

If you are a business owner who understands the value of AI but does not have the capacity to deploy it yourself, that is exactly who Omni is for.

And if you are a data professional who wants to learn the skills first, EDNA Learn is still the best place to start. The two work together.

I will be sharing more about what we are building, the results our founding partners are getting, and the lessons we are learning along the way. This is just the beginning.

If you want to see what AI agents actually look like in a real business day, this is what an AI agent workforce does from 9am to 5pm — and how small businesses are deploying them right now.

EDNA did not stop teaching. We went beyond it. Education gives people the skills to see what is possible. Omni gives them the tools and support to make it real. The two work together, and that combination is more powerful than either one alone.
