Instead of Blackpurl

Stop paying Blackpurl by the location. Own your dealership system.

We shape it around how your yard sells bikes, trailers or motorhomes and how your workshop books jobs, move your Blackpurl records across, and keep it running for you.

Blackpurl does not publish a price. Its site says packages start at 3 users, are priced per location, and are quoted after you book a call.

Where the money goes

A subscription for every store, to reach your own units and customers

Under the screens, a powersports, trailer or RV dealer keeps a short list of records: who bought what, which units sit in the yard, which jobs are in the workshop, what is on the parts shelf, and what has been invoiced. Blackpurl charges for the screens around them.

paid

A price you cannot see before the demo

The pricing page is a booking button. You learn what it costs after a sales call, which makes it hard to compare.

store

Pricing that grows with every store you open

Blackpurl describes its pricing as per location, with packages starting at three users. A second yard means another conversation about the bill.

workspace_premium

Features tied to the package you bought

Its own FAQ says the QuickBooks Online sync is on every tier except Starter. What you can do depends on the tier, not on what your dealership needs.

schedule

A month of switch-over before you are live

Blackpurl says most dealers go live in about 30 days. A test run of the free version takes minutes on one laptop.

hub

Wider access to your data still on the way

Blackpurl lists broader API access as coming soon.

lock

Your sales and service history inside a subscription

Every unit sold, every service visit and every parts sale lives in their cloud while the subscription runs. Here the same history is ordinary records you keep, back up and read with anything.

What you run instead

The dealer's week, without renting the screens

Stock

Every unit in the yard, and what it has cost you so far

Bikes, side-by-sides, trailers and motorhomes on one list, each with its days in stock, the prep money spent on it and the finance interest it has run up.

  • check Ask which units have sat past your aged line and see the interest each one has quietly cost
  • check Nothing goes into stock without an odometer reading recorded against it
  • check Prep and reconditioning work lands in the unit's cost, so the margin you see is the real one
  • check The aged line and your finance rate are settings you change in one sentence

Sales

From quote to handover, with the paperwork checked

Quotes, deposits and deliveries each follow a step you can see, and the checks a New Zealand dealer is held to are run at the moment they matter.

  • check A deposit sitting more than a fortnight without a delivery shows up before the buyer goes cold
  • check No handover without a security interest search on record, so money owed on a unit never follows it to your buyer
  • check Large cash payments are refused at the limit New Zealand law has set since 11 May 2023
  • check Every lost sale keeps its reason, so you can see what is really costing you deals

Workshop and parts

Service jobs finished, billed and written up

Customer jobs and your own prep work share one list; finished work cannot slip through without an invoice or a note.

  • check Finished jobs that were never invoiced are named, with the amount, before they become a write-off
  • check A job cannot close without notes on what was done, which is your record if a customer comes back unhappy
  • check Parts that have not moved in 90 days are listed with the money tied up in them
  • check Customers whose bike, trailer or motorhome has not been back for service are listed with a phone number, ready to call

Yours

No locations to count and no tier to climb

One database, read by anyone on your team, and the whole thing is yours to change.

  • check Open source under the MIT licence: keep it, change it, run it anywhere
  • check Your offers, service histories and statements come out under your own name and colours
  • check Your books stay with your accountant: sales, invoices and parts movements hand over in one export
  • check Your records stay readable by any tool you choose, now and after you stop using ours

Switching

How to switch from Blackpurl

The move is less about the software and more about getting your records out cleanly, checking they landed right, and running both systems side by side until you trust the new one before you cancel the old.

  1. 1

    Export your records from Blackpurl

Blackpurl's own FAQ says you own your data and can export it at any time as CSV, Excel or PDF. Pull your customer list and your stock or unit list at minimum, along with any deals, repair orders, parts and invoice records your account allows. Check with Blackpurl if you are unsure what your plan can export.

  2. 2

Load the records in as a test run

Bring the exported files into the free system and do a test run first, before anything is written for real. This lets you see how your columns match up to the new records without changing anything yet. If you are working with Enterprise DNA, this mapping and test run is part of what they do for you.

  3. 3

    Check what the import flags

The import names every row it could not match or chose to skip, so go through that list before you trust the load. Units are meant to arrive without paperwork like a CIN or PPSR check already marked done, on purpose, so those get verified fresh rather than assumed from Blackpurl. Fix or re-check anything flagged before you rely on it.

  4. 4

Run both systems side by side

Once the load looks right, keep Blackpurl running alongside the new system for a short stretch. Book units, log deals, close workshop jobs and raise invoices in both, and compare the totals. This is how you catch anything the export missed or the import mapped wrong, before you are depending on one system alone.

  5. 5

    Switch off Blackpurl

Once the two systems agree and your team is comfortable working from the new one, hand your accounting export to your accountant, cancel Blackpurl, and stop paying for it. Keep your original export files somewhere safe in case you ever need to check back against the old records.

construction

Where the real effort goes

The real work is rarely the export itself. It is deciding how your own fields and rules line up (what counts as a deal stage, how you track paper, which discounts or thresholds you use) and how much history you actually want to carry across rather than start fresh. That mapping and those decisions are exactly what Enterprise DNA handles when they install and run it for you.

Questions

Instead of Blackpurl, answered

The free version was built for a car yard. Does it fit a powersports, trailer or RV dealer? expand_more

The records are the same: customers, units in stock, sales, workshop jobs, parts and invoices. What changes is which checks apply to which kind of unit and what your paperwork says. In the free version you ask Claude Code to adjust it. When Enterprise DNA builds your version, we set those rules for what you actually sell.

Can we get our records out of Blackpurl? expand_more

Yes. Blackpurl's own FAQ says you own your data and can export it at any time as CSV, Excel or PDF. Its columns are not the ones the free version expects, so matching them up is part of what we do, or you ask Claude Code to map them and do a test run first.

What happens to our accounting? expand_more

It stays with your accountant. Blackpurl syncs to QuickBooks Online or Xero; here, sales, invoices and parts movements are on the record and hand over in one export, and we can connect it to your Xero if you want it automatic.

Blackpurl publishes our stock to our website. Do we lose that? expand_more

Not in the version we build. The free version keeps the stock list, and a feed to your website is one of the things Enterprise DNA adds when we set it up for you.

Do my sales staff and technicians need to learn Claude Code? expand_more

No. The questions read in plain English. In a managed setup we agree who asks what, and add a simple screen for the workshop or the counter if that suits your team better.
