Switching

How to switch from ChartMogul

The move involves exporting monthly customer revenue, checking it against the imported records, and agreeing which fields, rules and history you need before you change your month-end process.

  1. 1

    Export monthly customer revenue

In ChartMogul, go to Settings > Exports and export MRR per Customer per Month. This is already calculated monthly revenue in your account currency. Use your actual account currency when you prepare the import. The starting version uses this export for historical revenue, rather than connecting to billing events. If you need other records or live connections, agree those separately.

  2. 2

    Rehearse the import

Load the export into the database using the import's test run first. This lets you check what the import will accept before it writes records. Keep the original export available as your comparison source. The import expects monthly customer revenue, and rejects plan and quantity variants, so confirm you have the customer per month export rather than a different export type.

  3. 3

    Review the import results

Check the reported customer counts, dates and monthly totals against the original ChartMogul export. Review anything the import flags, including rejected rows or unexpected gaps, before proceeding. Do not treat a missing customer or blank observation as zero. If the counts, dates or totals do not match, resolve the difference before you rely on the imported history.

  4. 4

    Run both side by side

For a short period, keep ChartMogul available while you use the database for your monthly review. Compare the observed monthly totals and the review records you need for month-end. Record the source evidence for each reconciliation. If a later correction changes an earlier month, check that the earlier reconciliation is still valid before using it.

  5. 5

    Switch off ChartMogul

When the figures and review process have been checked, make the database your working source for the subscription review work you have moved. Keep any ChartMogul records you still need, then use ChartMogul's account process to end or change your service. The imported monthly revenue does not replace billing, tax, revenue recognition or processor connections.

construction

Where the real effort goes

The export is the straightforward part. Most of the work is usually deciding which history to bring, mapping your own fields, and agreeing how your business handles its review rules and evidence. The free version starts with monthly customer revenue, while other records and live connections are scoped separately. If you have Enterprise DNA install and run it, they do this mapping and migration work with you.

Questions

Instead of ChartMogul, answered

Is this a complete replacement for every ChartMogul feature? expand_more

The free version starts with your exported monthly customer revenue and the review work around it. ChartMogul also calculates revenue from billing events. We scope the connections and calculations your business needs, build them into your version and check them against your existing results before a switch.

Can you bring our history across? expand_more

Yes. Start with the monthly customer revenue export from ChartMogul. It includes already calculated amounts in your account currency. We check the customer count, dates and totals. Other records and live connections are agreed separately and built into your version.

Will a missing customer be reported as churn? expand_more

No. The free version requires a positive month followed by an explicit zero before it labels churn. Missing observations stay unknown. Retention uses customers observed in both adjacent months in the same currency, so you can see the limits of the result.

How do we check the figures before using them? expand_more

Compare the imported monthly totals with your source export and record the supporting evidence. A later correction makes that earlier check stale. Monthly subscription measures are management information, not recognised accounting revenue, and your finance lead reviews them before circulation.

What do we pay Enterprise DNA, and who owns the records? expand_more

You own the database and can export your records and change history. We agree one setup fee, then a retainer for customisation or managed operation. We can add your preferred front end and connections. The free version remains available if you want to run it yourself.
