Enterprise DNA

Instead of eraPower

Stop licensing eraPower to reach your own records. Own your dealer system.

We build your version around how your franchises sell and service, bring your eraPower history across, and run it for you while your team keeps working.

Pentana does not publish eraPower pricing. Its product pages send you to a contact form, and each dealership is quoted privately.

What the contract covers

One vendor holding the showroom, the workshop and the books

Strip away the screens and a franchise dealer keeps a short set of records: who enquired, what is in stock, what sold, which jobs are in the workshop, which parts moved and which payments came in. eraPower puts all of them, plus your accounts, inside one Pentana platform.

paid

A cost you only learn after the form

There is no rate card on Pentana's site. You fill in a contact form, wait for their team to be in touch, and get a quote nobody else can compare against.

account_balance

Your accounts inside the dealer system

eraPower runs multi-franchise accounting centrally, and version 5 adds payments, banking and reconciliation. The more of the ledger it holds, the harder it is to walk away.

extension

A CRM that comes from another product

Pentana lists its CRM as supplied through DealerSocket. Your prospects and follow-ups sit in a second system you did not choose on its own merits.

dashboard

Reports shaped by the vendor

The questions an owner asks across departments, such as which sold cars never returned for a service, or what an aged unit has cost to hold, can wait on a report someone else has to build.

lock

No public word on getting your data out

Neither eraPower page says how a dealer exports their customers, stock or repair orders. Ask before you sign, and again before you renew.

cloud

Years of history on someone else's platform

Every deal, service visit and parts sale lives on Pentana's cloud while the contract runs. Here the same history is ordinary records you back up and read with any tool.

What you run instead

Showroom, workshop and parts counter, on records you keep

Showroom

Every car on the floor, and what it costs to hold

New and used stock on one list with days held, preparation spend and the finance interest each car has run up.

  • check Ask which cars have passed your aged line and see the holding cost of each one
  • check A car cannot enter stock without its odometer reading on file
  • check Preparation work lands in the car's cost, so the gross on each sale is the real one
  • check Customers and their deals live beside the stock, with no separate CRM to license

Selling

A sale that cannot skip the paperwork

Each step from deposit to handover checks the record the law expects, at the point it applies.

  • check A used car takes no deposit until its Consumer Information Notice is on file
  • check No handover until a PPSR search is recorded, and never with money still owing on the car
  • check Cash over the limit New Zealand set in May 2023 is turned away automatically
  • check Each lost sale records why, so you see where deals actually go

Service and parts

Workshop jobs closed out properly

Customer repair orders and internal preparation sit on one job list, and nothing finished slips past without an invoice.

  • check Completed jobs with no invoice are listed with their value before they turn into a write-off
  • check A job cannot close without notes of the work done, your record if a customer disputes it
  • check WoF inspections sit only with a technician whose authorisation is current that day
  • check Parts that have sat still for months are listed with the money tied up in them

Yours

Change the rules yourself, keep the books with your accountant

Your thresholds, your documents and your history, in a database no vendor holds.

  • check Owners who have not been back for a service are listed with their phone number, ready for a call
  • check Your Consumer Information Notices, sale agreements and service histories print under your own name
  • check Sales, invoices and parts movements hand to your accountant or Xero in one export
  • check MIT licensed: copy it, change it, run it anywhere, with no contract to renew

Switching

How to switch from eraPower

A move usually involves getting the records eraPower can provide, mapping their columns, checking a test import, and running both systems side by side before you switch.

  1. 1

    Ask eraPower for your records

Ask Pentana which customer, stock and repair-order reports you can save. Export what your account allows, usually as CSV or Excel, and check with eraPower if you are unsure. Decide which history you need to bring across. The available export options are not published on eraPower’s product pages, so confirm what you can get before planning the import.

  2. 2

    Load a test import

Use the import path to test the records before saving them. In plain terms, this means checking how the columns in your exported reports line up with the fields Dealership reads. The free version reads common column-name variations, but eraPower’s columns may differ, so they may need matching. If Enterprise DNA runs the move, it handles this mapping as part of the import.

  3. 3

    Review the import flags

Check the test results before saving anything. The import names rows it skips, so review each one and resolve any missing or mismatched information. Imported vehicles arrive without a CIN or PPSR recorded, even if the old system showed those details. Verify the paperwork as each vehicle comes across rather than treating the old record as proof that it is current.

  4. 4

Run both systems side by side

Keep eraPower available while you use Dealership for a short period. Compare the records you rely on, including customers, stock and repair orders, and check that the imported information is usable in your day-to-day work. Use this period to spot anything missed in the export or mapping, and resolve it before you depend on the new system alone.

  5. 5

    Switch off eraPower

Once you have checked the imported records and are comfortable using Dealership for your work, switch off eraPower. Make sure you have dealt with any records or reports you still need from eraPower before ending access. If your accounts are part of eraPower, agree with your accountant how they will be handled separately, since the general ledger stays with your accounting system.

construction

Where the real effort goes

The main work is usually matching eraPower’s columns to the fields Dealership reads, checking which records and rules matter to your business, and deciding how much history to bring across. Export options vary, so confirm them with eraPower. If you have Enterprise DNA run the move, they handle the field matching and import checks with you.

Questions

Instead of eraPower, answered

Can we get our records out of eraPower? expand_more

Pentana's product pages do not say how exports work, so ask Pentana which customer, stock and repair order reports can be saved as spreadsheets. eraPower's columns may differ from the ones the free version reads, so matching them is part of what Enterprise DNA does, and every import gets a test run before anything is saved.

eraPower also runs our accounts. What happens to them? expand_more

They go back to a proper accounting system, with your accountant. Sales, payments, invoices and parts movements stay on the record here and hand over in one export, or we connect it to Xero so it happens automatically. Keeping the ledger separate is what keeps you free to change dealer systems again.

We hold more than one franchise. Does it cope? expand_more

Yes. There is no licence per franchise or per site, so adding a make does not add a contract line. In the version we build, every franchise and rooftop reads from one database, with stock, gross and workshop numbers reported each way, and each manager sees only what they should.

Our technicians clock jobs on their phones. Do we lose that? expand_more

The free version keeps the jobs and work notes as records, with no technician app. A web front end for your team is one of the things Enterprise DNA can add when we build your version.

What about our OEM and factory reporting? expand_more

The free version does not connect to manufacturer systems on its own. When we build your version we work out which reports each of your makes needs and add those connections, so the factory still gets what it asks for.
