Switching

How to switch from FuneralBuddy

A move usually involves exporting a case report, mapping its columns and deciding which other records need separate migration and reconciliation.

  1. 1

    Export a case report

Ask FuneralBuddy for a CSV report export of your cases, choosing the columns you need from the fields available in your account. FuneralBuddy supports CSV report exports and lets you select report columns, but there is no fixed header format. If you cannot find the report or columns you need, check with FuneralBuddy before planning the import.

  2. 2

    Map your fields

Compare the report headers with the fields you plan to keep in Funeral Home for Claude Code, then map each column to its matching case field. The free importer brings across mapped case records, not every part of your FuneralBuddy history. Decide separately whether attachments, signatures, invoices or other records need to be mapped and reconciled.

  3. 3

    Run a dry run

Have the import run as a dry run before loading records. Use it to check the proposed mapping without committing the import. If the report columns do not line up, adjust the mapping and repeat the test. Do not treat the import as complete until the fields you rely on are accounted for.

  4. 4

    Review flagged issues

Review anything the dry run flags, then check that case details are mapped to the right fields. Confirm that excluded history has its own migration plan. Attachments, signatures, invoices and other history need separate mapping and reconciliation where you choose to bring them across. Resolve mapping problems and rerun the import before using the new database as a working record.

  5. 5

    Run both, then switch

Keep FuneralBuddy available while you run the new system alongside it for a short period. Compare the records you brought across and check that the workflows you agreed to use work for your team. When you are satisfied with the records and workflows in the new system, stop entering new work in FuneralBuddy and switch it off.

Where the real effort goes

Most of the work is mapping your FuneralBuddy report columns to the fields you need, agreeing how your own workflows and rules should work, and deciding how much history to bring. The importer handles mapped case records. Attachments, signatures, invoices and other history need separate mapping and reconciliation. Enterprise DNA does this migration work when you have them install and run the system.

Questions

Instead of FuneralBuddy, answered

Does this replace everything we use in FuneralBuddy? expand_more

We start by agreeing the workflows you rely on. The free version covers case records, service planning, costs, drafts and limited paperwork checks. Enterprise DNA builds the family portal, approvals, connections and screens your version needs before you switch.

Can our FuneralBuddy history come across? expand_more

FuneralBuddy supports CSV report exports. Its report columns are selectable, so we map your actual export first. The free importer handles mapped case records. Attachments, signatures, invoices and other history need separate mapping and reconciliation as part of your migration.

Will the paperwork checks cover our state? expand_more

The free version has specific NSW and NZ record checks. NZ working-day deadlines need a director to confirm public holidays. Other jurisdictions are marked for manual review. We agree and build the rules your home needs. Official forms and lodgement remain subject to director review.

Is this worth doing when FuneralBuddy includes every feature? expand_more

FuneralBuddy Professional lists A$149 a month plus A$15 per case and includes all features. Replacing it makes sense when owning the system and changing it around your work matters to you. Sam will look at that fit with you before proposing a build.

What do we pay Enterprise DNA for? expand_more

A setup fee covers the agreed build and migration. A retainer covers the agreed ongoing service. We scope your fields, branches, access and connections first. The free version remains available for a team that wants to run it itself.

Bring the way your funeral home actually works

Spend 30 minutes with Sam. Bring your FuneralBuddy bill, a sample export and the steps your team repeats every week. We will work through what your own version needs and whether the change makes sense.
