Instead of GovReports
Stop renting GovReports' view of your ATO mail. Own the register behind it.
Enterprise DNA builds your version around how your team reads, checks and passes on ATO correspondence, brings your client list across, and runs it for you. Keep lodging where you lodge today.
GovReports publishes tax agent licences from A$636 a year for up to 50 clients to A$3,528 a year for unlimited clients, ex GST, with extra users at A$158 a year each. The ATOInsights correspondence dashboard is a further A$534.55 + GST a year.

What the GovReports licence covers
A licence priced by client count, and a dashboard sold on top
GovReports is lodgment software first. The ATO correspondence sits in a communications view and the ATOInsights add-on: a place to look at letters, priced by how many clients you carry and how many staff need to look.
Client bands that move the price
Starter covers up to 50 clients at A$636 a year. Pass 200 and the Professional licence is A$3,528 a year, ex GST.
A charge for every extra person reading
Each additional staff member who needs to see client mail is A$158 a year.
The correspondence dashboard as an add-on
ATOInsights, the view that pulls paper, email and SMS correspondence onto one screen, is A$534.55 + GST a year on top of the licence.
Viewing, not checking
A notice of assessment on screen is not a notice checked against the return you lodged. That comparison still happens in someone's head or a spreadsheet.
No record of who told the client
The ATO's letter is shown. Whether your practice passed it on, when, and in what words is not part of the view.
Records you look at, not records you keep
The communications are displayed from the ATO's portal. No export of that view is documented, so your history of what arrived and what you did stays with the subscription.
What you get instead
A correspondence register that does the follow-through
Arrivals
Each ATO letter logged against its client with the numbers pulled out
Your team saves practice mail from ATO Online and scans of paper letters into one folder. Every item is read, linked to the right client and recorded with its amounts, reference and due date.
- check A single morning sweep of new mail, whatever the volume
- check Letters it cannot place wait for a person, confirmed against the last three TFN digits
- check A queue of letters the client has not yet heard about, oldest at the top
- check Turnaround time measured per letter against the standard your practice sets
Checking
The assessment set against the return before the client hears a number
The expected refund or amount payable is recorded at lodgment. When the notice of assessment lands, the difference is worked out and needs a written reason before anyone moves on.
- check Expected against assessed on every notice, with the reason beside it
- check Unexplained differences flagged after 30 days, while an objection is still possible
- check A client letter cannot be drafted for a notice nobody has checked
- check Practice rules, each citing its source, run over every record in one ask
Clients
Who owes what, by when, and whether they know
Every debt to the ATO across the practice in one list, with the due date and a plain yes or no on whether the client has been told.
- check Anything due within 14 days where the client has not heard, first each morning
- check Payment plan instalments followed one by one, so a miss is caught before the plan defaults
- check Client letters drafted in your practice's name, read and sent by a person
- check The lodgment calendar kept beside the mail, overdue items first
Yours
Plain records, as many readers as you like, no full TFNs
The register lives in a database the practice owns, on one laptop or shared across the office. Adding a staff member is not a line on an invoice.
- check Only the last three digits of a tax file number can be stored
- check Questions across family groups and staff workloads that a portal view never asks
- check No client band to outgrow and no per-seat charge to read mail
- check Open source under the MIT licence, so leaving is never a project
Make it yours
Design your own GovReports replacement
Everything starts from the open-source base. Then it gets your name, the parts you run, your rules and your data from GovReports. Try it here, and we build the real one.

Good morning. Here is what needs you today.
We build it from the open-source base, bring your GovReports data across and run it for you.
Switching
How to switch from GovReports
Moving off GovReports is less an export and more a rebuild of your correspondence history from the letters you already hold, done once and checked as you go.
- 1
Export your client list
GovReports does not document an export of the correspondence view it shows on screen, so start with what the account does let you export, a CSV client list, and check with GovReports if you need something specific. The letters themselves come from elsewhere: the PDFs your team already downloaded from ATO Online, plus any scanned paper correspondence sitting in client files.
- 2
Load the records, test first
Bring the client list and the PDFs into the new register. Ask Claude Code to run a test load first, which reads everything and reports what it would do without changing anything. Once that looks right, run it for real. Enterprise DNA or your own team can do this step. Either way, nothing changes until the test has been checked.
- 3
Check what the import flags
Every import shortens tax file numbers to the last three digits and tells you how many it cut. It also reports which documents matched a client and which did not. Go through the unmatched ones by hand, and confirm the TFN counts make sense before you trust the register with anything a client will see.
- 4
Run both side by side
Keep lodging through GovReports, or whatever software you use for that. The free version does not lodge returns. For a short stretch, keep checking ATO mail the old way as well as the new, and compare what each one tells you about the same clients. This is where you decide whether the register genuinely replaces what GovReports's correspondence view and the ATOInsights add-on were doing.
- 5
Drop GovReports for correspondence
Once the register is catching what GovReports's client communications view and the ATOInsights add-on used to show you, cancel the parts you no longer need. If GovReports still handles your lodgments, keep that piece and drop only the correspondence side, saving the ATOInsights fee and the per-user cost of extra readers.
Where the real effort goes
The real work is not moving data, it is deciding what your practice's rules should check for and how much history to bring across, since GovReports does not document an export of its correspondence view. Mapping client fields, staff and compliance rules to your practice takes judgment, not just typing. Enterprise DNA does this mapping and the count checking when you have them install and run it for you.

Questions
Instead of GovReports, answered
Does this replace GovReports for lodging returns? expand_more
No. The free version does not lodge anything with the ATO. It takes over the correspondence side: what the ATO sent, whether it matches what you lodged, and what you told the client. Keep lodging through GovReports or whatever you use today, and drop the ATOInsights add-on if the register covers what you used it for.
GovReports pulls communications straight from the ATO. Does this? expand_more
Not in the free version. It works from the practice mail your team downloads from ATO Online and from scanned paper letters, and no ATO credential is kept in it. If you want a direct feed, Enterprise DNA builds one for your practice under your own access.
Can we bring our GovReports records across? expand_more
Your client list, yes, from a client export or your practice management system. GovReports does not document an export of its communications view, so past letters come across from the PDFs you already hold. Enterprise DNA does that mapping and checks the counts, or you can ask Claude Code to map the files yourself.
What happens to tax file numbers? expand_more
The database refuses to hold more than the last three digits. Imports shorten any TFN column on the way in and tell you how many they cut, and no letter ever shows one.
We already pay for GovReports. Why add anything? expand_more
Because seeing a notice is not the same as acting on it. If staff are reading ATO mail in one place and tracking follow-up in a spreadsheet, the register can replace the spreadsheet and the A$534.55 + GST a year ATOInsights add-on, and no extra reader costs A$158 a year. We will tell you on the call whether our fee makes sense at your size.
Turn ATO mail you can see into work your practice has done
Thirty minutes with Sam. We go through your GovReports licence and add-ons, how ATO correspondence reaches your team and who checks it, and what your own register would look like. If it fits, we build it and run it. If not, the free version is yours to keep.
ATO Correspondence for Claude Code is free and open source, published by Enterprise DNA.
