Instead of HazardCo
Starting another build with HazardCo means another Project fee. Own the safety system behind all your sites.
Enterprise DNA sets up a version that follows how your jobs start, how subbies sign on and how you report, moves your HazardCo history over, and keeps it running each month. Winning more work never adds a charge per house.
HazardCo lists NZ$119 a month + GST for a trade business of up to nine, NZ$299 a month for its Complete builder plan, a 12-month term on every plan, and extra Projects from NZ$190 to NZ$449 each once the three included builds are used.

What the HazardCo plan charges for
A yearly contract, a Project count and a headcount cap
Behind the app and the hazard board, HazardCo keeps a short list of facts about each job: who inducted, who signed in, what could hurt someone, what went wrong and who promised to fix it. Here is how the plan charges for that.
Three Projects a year, then a fee per build
Builder plans include three Projects a year. Past that, HazardCo says extra Projects run NZ$190 to NZ$449 + GST, and NZ$449 for each new home. A busy year costs more for the same records.
A 12-month term on every plan
Monthly or yearly, every published plan sits on a 12-month term. Paying yearly is NZ$2,199 for Premium or NZ$2,999 for Complete, plus GST.
A cap on team members
Foundation and Premium stop at nine team members and Professional at 19. Each person past that is NZ$12 a month + GST. Put on an apprentice and the bill moves.
Contractor checks held back for the top plans
Pre-qualification questionnaires, insurance reminders and alerts when a subbie's documents expire come with Professional or Complete, not Foundation or Premium.
Sign-in and inductions tied to a QR board
Crews scan a board's code with the HazardCo app to induct and sign in. The record of who was on site, and when, lives in the HazardCo Hub under that Project.
Years of site records behind a login
The Hub keeps every completed report under its Project. HazardCo does not publish a bulk export guide, so getting that history out is a question for HazardCo support.
What a building firm gets instead
One safety record across every job, whatever the build count
Jobs
A new site is a new line, not a new purchase
Start a job and it joins the record with its own hazards and inductions. Ten builds or a hundred, the retainer stays put.
- check Renovations, new homes and multi-unit jobs held the same way, with no Express or standard Project to choose
- check A finished site stays on the record for years, readable without a subscription
- check Ask which job has had the most near misses this year and get the list, worst first
Subbies
Contractor checks on every plan, because there is only one
Each subbie firm sits on the record with its people, tickets and inductions. Expiry warnings are part of the system, not an upgrade.
- check Anyone on site without a current induction for that job is flagged by name every morning
- check Tickets due to expire in the next 60 days listed with the subbie's company beside them
- check An expired ticket shown next to any incident that person was involved in
- check Labour-hire and summer workers added and stood down in a sentence, with no headcount charge
Incidents
An injury on site cannot quietly close
Record what happened as soon as it is safe. If it is notifiable, the duty to phone WorkSafe and keep the scene intact comes up there and then, and the event stays open until the call is on the record.
- check An unreported notifiable event tops the morning list until someone records the call
- check An investigation cannot close without a corrective action or a written reason
- check Overdue actions listed with the job, the owner and the incident they came from
- check The written WorkSafe notification drafted from the record for a person to check and send
Your records
Your safety history, held by your firm
Your records sit in a database your business owns, on your own system or run for you. Nothing is gated by plan, and leaving costs nothing because nothing is rented.
- check Toolbox talk gaps per job, so a site that has gone quiet shows up before something happens
- check Hazards held by PPE alone on a high-risk task flagged against the hierarchy of controls
- check Hazard registers and incident reports printed in your own brand for the client or main contractor
- check Open source under the MIT licence, with records kept the five years the law asks for notifiable events

Switching
How to switch from HazardCo
HazardCo runs on 12-month terms, so this kind of move usually sits around your renewal date: pull your records out, load them into the new system, run both side by side for the last few weeks of the term, then let HazardCo lapse.
- 1
Export what HazardCo will give you
HazardCo keeps your completed reports in its Hub under each Project, and it does not publish a bulk export guide. Ask HazardCo support what your plan lets you pull out, usually CSV or Excel: your people, hazards, incidents, inductions and toolbox talks. Get everything you can before your renewal date, since what a plan can export can vary.
- 2
Load the records in, tested first
Loading the records is one instruction to Claude Code in plain language, pointing it at whatever files HazardCo gave you. Run it as a test first, so it shows you what it would bring across without touching your live records. Once the test looks right, run it for real and the same records land in your database.
- 3
Read what the import flags
The load itself works as an audit. Anything that looks wrong, like a notifiable event with no WorkSafe date on it, or an induction that expired before it was renewed, gets surfaced straight away rather than sitting buried in a report nobody opens. Go through that list before you rely on the new record, and make any phone calls it turns up, not just data fixes.
- 4
Run both systems side by side
Keep HazardCo live while your team gets used to the new system. Since HazardCo runs on 12-month terms, the natural window is the last few weeks before your renewal date: log the same hazards and incidents in both, and check the two records agree before you let one of them go.
- 5
Let the HazardCo plan lapse
Once you trust the new record and your renewal date arrives, let the HazardCo plan lapse rather than paying for two systems at once. Keep your own safety adviser, since nothing here replaces one. The QR hazard board and phone advice line go with HazardCo; if you still want phone sign-in at the gate, Enterprise DNA builds that into your version instead.
Where the real effort goes
The real work is mapping your own hazards, sites and rules onto the new record, and deciding how much history is worth bringing across rather than just carrying forward what is live today. HazardCo does not publish what each plan can export, so someone has to ask, get the files and check them line by line. Enterprise DNA does this whole step when you have them install and run it.

Questions
Instead of HazardCo, answered
HazardCo gives me an advisor on the phone. Does this? expand_more
No. The system keeps the records and tells you what is overdue or unreported; it does not replace a safety professional. Keep your own H&S adviser or consultant, and they get one clear record to work from instead of a login per job.
How do crews sign in without the QR board and app? expand_more
The free version records inductions through whoever runs it. For crews and subbies at the gate, Enterprise DNA builds a phone sign-in and induction into your version, and every entry lands in the same record as your hazards and incidents.
Can I get my records out of HazardCo? expand_more
HazardCo keeps completed reports in its Hub under each Project, and it does not publish a bulk export guide, so ask their support what your plan can export before you cancel. Mapping whatever comes out into your new system is part of what Enterprise DNA does in the setup.
What about my 12-month term? expand_more
Every HazardCo plan runs on a 12-month term, so plan the switch for your renewal date. Run both side by side for the last few weeks, then let the HazardCo plan lapse.
Does this make my firm compliant? expand_more
It keeps the records the Health and Safety at Work Act and its Regulations name, and checks them against rules that cite their sections. Compliance is how you run your sites, and no software makes that true on its own. None of this is legal advice.
Stop paying per build for your own safety record
30 minutes with Sam. We look at your HazardCo plan, how many builds you run a year, how your subbies sign on, and what your own version would look like. If it fits, we set it up and run it. If not, take the free version and run it yourself.
