Instead of Hitrak
Running dispatch on Hitrak? Own your freight system.
Enterprise DNA builds your depot its own freight system around the way you dispatch, deliver and bill, brings your Hitrak orders and customer rates across, and keeps it running for you.
Hitrak does not publish a price. There is no price list on its website. The website offers a demo booking instead.

What the quote covers
Several products stacked over one list of orders
Under the portals and apps, a freight business keeps one record: an order, the run it went on, who signed for it, what it was charged. Hitrak wraps that record in separate products, and the quote is the price of the wrapping.
A price you only see after a demo
Nothing on the Hitrak website says what it costs. You book a demo and wait for a number, which makes it hard to compare against anything else before you have spent the time.
An admin portal to run the office
Settings and automations live in the Admin Portal. Your dispatchers learn the vendor's screens to change how your own depot works.
A separate portal for your customers
Freightmaster is where customers enter orders, print labels and read DIFOT. It is another product to set up on top of the one your office already uses.
A driver app and a tracking app
Drivers scan and capture signatures in one app, and receivers watch ETAs in another. Useful, and two more pieces in the stack the quote has to cover.
The reports the vendor chose
DIFOT and exception reports come built in. A question like which customers keep booking below their agreed minimum is yours to work out from a data extract.
Your history out through extracts
Getting your records out means Freightmaster data extracts or building on Hitrak's own connection for developers. Years of orders and signed deliveries sit in their system until then.
What you get instead
One freight record your whole depot can ask
Dispatch
Every order rated and placed the day it books
Each order is priced off the customer's own agreed rates, or the standard tariff when there are none, and the depot sees straight away what is late, what has no run and what is moving unpriced.
- check The customer's agreed rate wins over the standard tariff, and the order says which one it used
- check Late against the required date, not yet on a run, or priced at nothing: one list each morning
- check One order's full trail on request: lane, run, signature, invoice and any claim
- check Ask the questions no built-in report covers, in plain English
Billing
Signed freight gets invoiced, unsigned freight gets chased
Money leaks between delivered and billed. Here that gap is a single list with the dollars beside it, and the invoice run will not bill freight nobody signed for.
- check Every delivered order with no signature, oldest first, with what it is holding up
- check Invoices drafted per customer, one line per order and the fuel levy on its own line
- check Due dates taken from each customer's account terms
- check DIFOT per customer from the delivery record, as a branded service report you can send them
Compliance
Hours, loads and dangerous goods checked against the rules
The rules a New Zealand carrier works under are written in as checks, and every rule names where it comes from.
- check Driver days checked against the Work Time Rule limits on continuous and daily hours
- check A run will not load past the truck's rated payload
- check Dangerous goods stay off runs with a driver who is not endorsed
- check COF, registration and RUC distance flagged per truck before they lapse
Ownership
Your records, your rules, your logo
The freight history belongs to you, in a database you own, and every document goes out under your name.
- check Invoices, con notes, run sheets and service reports printed with your brand
- check A new field, rate rule or check added by describing it
- check No vendor screens between your dispatchers and your data
- check Open source under the MIT licence, with nobody to give notice to

Switching
How to switch from Hitrak
A move like this involves exporting your records, mapping Hitrak’s fields, checking the import and running both systems side by side before cutover.
- 1
Export your Hitrak records
Use Hitrak’s Freightmaster data extracts or open API to get your customer records, consignment history and rate cards. Export what your account allows, usually CSV or Excel, and check with Hitrak which records and fields are available. Keep a copy of the exports so you can refer back to them while you map and check the move.
- 2
Map and load the records
Hitrak’s extracts use their own columns, so match those fields to the records in Freight Ops before loading. The free version imports a standard freight export. Start with a test run if the import offers one, review what it will bring across, then load the records. If you are doing the mapping yourself, you can ask Claude Code to help map the extract.
- 3
Review the import results
Check the import report for fields it could not match, records it skipped and any other warnings. Compare the imported customer, consignment and rate records with your Hitrak exports, and check totals against Hitrak. Resolve differences before relying on the new records. Some history, such as runs, work time records and claims, may need a separate decision about what to bring across.
- 4
Run both systems side by side
Keep Hitrak running while you use Freight Ops for a short period. Check that new bookings, delivery records, rates and invoice drafts match what your team expects. Use the two systems to spot missing fields or rules that need adjusting, and confirm your team can find and use the records it needs before cutover.
- 5
Switch off Hitrak
Once you have checked the imported records and the side-by-side run, move your team’s work to Freight Ops. Make sure you have kept the Hitrak exports and have decided how to handle any records you did not import. Then arrange the Hitrak change or cancellation with Hitrak, based on your account terms.
Where the real effort goes
The work is usually in matching Hitrak’s own fields to the new records, checking your operating rules and deciding how much history to bring across. You will need to review the import and resolve anything it flags. If Enterprise DNA runs the move for you, they do the field mapping and check the totals against Hitrak as part of the move.

Questions
Instead of Hitrak, answered
Hitrak has never told me a price up front. How do I compare? expand_more
Get your Hitrak quote in writing, then put it beside what you would own instead. The free version costs nothing to run. If Enterprise DNA builds your version, it is one setup fee and then a monthly retainer, agreed on the discovery call, with no charge that grows as you add trucks or orders.
My drivers capture signatures and photos in the Hitrak app. What happens to that? expand_more
The free version has no phone app. Signed deliveries are recorded as a name and a time, entered by the office or brought in from whatever tool captures them. If your drivers need to sign customers on a phone at the door, Enterprise DNA builds a driver app into your version.
Can I bring my Hitrak history across? expand_more
Yes, with some mapping. The free version imports a standard freight export, and Hitrak's data extracts use their own columns, so the fields have to be matched first. Enterprise DNA does that mapping as part of the move and checks the totals against Hitrak, or you can ask Claude Code to map the extract yourself.
We run chilled and frozen freight across several depots. Does it fit? expand_more
The records are the same shape: orders, runs, drivers, trucks, signed deliveries and customer rates. Several depots can work from one shared database. Temperature logs, a depot field or extra checks are added by describing them, and Enterprise DNA writes them in for you on the built version.
Our customers book online through Freightmaster. Do they lose that? expand_more
The free version has no customer order screen. Orders come in through your office or a spreadsheet import.
