The plans

What Karbon charges

Karbon bills by the seat, with a licence needed for every person who touches a client file. Team lists US$59 a user a month paid annually or US$79 billed monthly, and Business lists US$89 a user a month annually or US$99 monthly, with Enterprise quoted privately.

Team

US$59 per user/month (annual), US$79 (monthly)

Available to teams of four or more, on either an annual or monthly billing rate.

Business

US$89 per user/month (annual), US$99 (monthly)

Adds automatic client reminders and task automation on top of the Team features.

Enterprise

Quoted privately

Karbon's own package includes customisation and expanded reporting, priced case by case.

Add-ons (Email Insights, custom reporting)

Quoted privately

Sit outside the base subscription as paid extras in Karbon's plan comparison.

How the bill is built

group

A licence for every colleague

Karbon prices per user, so the bill grows with headcount rather than with the work done. Every partner, manager and assistant who needs to see a client file needs their own paid seat, on Team or Business.

extension

Two different rates by billing term

Annual billing lists lower per-user prices than monthly billing. Team runs US$59 a month annually against US$79 monthly, and Business runs US$89 against US$99, so paying monthly costs more per person.

build

Automation locked behind the higher tier

Automatic client reminders and task automation sit in Business, not Team. A practice that wants these has to move every seat up to the more expensive plan, not just the people who use them.

autorenew

Reporting sold as separate add-ons

Email Insights and custom reporting are not included in either published plan. They appear as paid add-ons in Karbon's own plan comparison, on top of whatever per-user rate the practice already pays.

A year of Karbon

What a Karbon subscription can add up to

An illustrative 25-user Karbon Business subscription works out to about US$26,700 a year at the published US$89 per user monthly rate on annual billing. This is a calculated scenario rather than a verified invoice, and it excludes implementation, tax, add-ons like Email Insights or custom reporting, and any Enterprise terms, which Karbon quotes privately.

Underneath the bill

What you are really paying for

dashboard

A licence for every person on staff

The bill is built per user, so it rises every time the practice hires, regardless of how much of Karbon that person actually uses. Someone who only checks one client file costs the same seat as a partner using it all day.

lock

Automation held back on the lower tier

Automatic client reminders and task automation only exist on Business, not Team. A practice on the cheaper tier is paying for a system that could do more, but has that capability withheld until every seat moves up.

history

Reporting priced as an extra, again

Email Insights and custom reporting sit outside both published plans as paid add-ons. Even after paying per user for Team or Business, a practice that wants to see more of its own reporting pays a further, separate charge for it.

The owned alternative

Your own practice record, run for you

Enterprise DNA builds Accounting Practice for Claude Code around how your practice actually runs, brings your Karbon client, work and time records across, and runs it for you day to day, in plain language rather than screens. That is one setup fee, then a monthly retainer, with no per-seat licence to add every time you hire. An owner who wants to run it themselves can start with the free version instead.

Questions

Karbon pricing, answered

Does Karbon charge more as our team grows? expand_more

Yes. Karbon is priced per user on Team or Business, so every new hire who needs access to client files adds another licence to the monthly bill, at US$59 to US$99 depending on plan and billing term, before any add-ons or Enterprise terms.

Is there a cheaper way to get Karbon's automation features? expand_more

Not within Karbon itself. Automatic client reminders and task automation are part of Business, not Team, so a practice on the cheaper tier has to move every seat up to Business to reach them, rather than upgrading only the people who need them.

What does a Karbon subscription actually cost across a year? expand_more

On the published rates, a 25-user Business subscription on annual billing works out to about US$26,700 a year, as a calculated scenario rather than a verified invoice. That figure excludes implementation, tax, paid add-ons such as Email Insights or custom reporting, and Enterprise terms, which Karbon quotes privately.
