Instead of Mitti

Stop paying Mitti for every seat. Own your safety record outright.

We build your version around the checks, issues and investigations your teams already run, carry your Mitti and SafetyCulture history across, and look after it for you. A new store manager or supervisor costs nothing to add.

Mitti's Premium plan is listed at $24 per seat per month billed annually, or $29 billed monthly, excluding taxes. The free plan stops at ten seats.

Where the seat price goes

A checklist app priced per person, with the limits drawn by plan

Mitti, which most owners still know as SafetyCulture or iAuditor, is very good at putting a checklist on a phone. The record behind it is short: people, sites, hazards, events, findings and the jobs that close them out.

group

Seat eleven ends the free plan

The free plan covers up to ten seats. Past that, Premium is $24 a seat a month on an annual bill, which is $288 a seat a year, before taxes.

payments

Paying month to month costs more

Premium billed monthly is $29 a seat a month, or $348 a seat a year.

description

Five live templates on the free plan

Free allows five active inspection templates and basic tasks and issue reporting. Unlimited templates, permissions and advanced training sit on Premium.

history

History with a ceiling

The free plan keeps up to three years of data history. New Zealand law asks for notifiable event records to be kept for five years, so the free tier is not where that record can live.

file_download

Excel and Word exports gated by plan

Free exports PDF and web reports. Word and Excel exports, the API and single sign-on come with Premium, and the bulk exporter tool sits behind the paid plans too.

store

Multi-site pricing by quote

A business with many sites can buy one price per site with unlimited users, but that price is quoted privately rather than published.

What your business gets instead

The safety record itself, with no seat meter and no plan ceiling

People

Every worker, contractor and visitor on file at no extra cost

Staff, casuals, contractors and labour hire sit in one database, and adding the twentieth or the two hundredth person changes nothing on the invoice.

  • check One setup fee and one monthly retainer, however many people appear in the records
  • check Contractor inductions and tickets kept beside your own team's, with expiry dates watched
  • check Managers at each store or site ask their own questions
  • check Training records tied to the incidents the same person was involved in, not held in a separate module

Findings

A failed check that becomes a job with a name on it

When an inspection finds a problem, it turns into a corrective action with an owner and a due date, and it stays visible until it is done.

  • check Overdue actions listed worst first every morning, with the person responsible named
  • check Each hazard shows every incident linked to it, so the same problem recurring is obvious
  • check Closing an inspection books the next one on its cadence
  • check A site that has stopped reporting near misses stands out in the twelve-month trend

When someone is hurt

Serious events that cannot be quietly closed

If an event has to be notified to WorkSafe, it heads the attention list every day until someone records the date they phoned, and the written notice is drafted from the record for a person to check.

  • check No investigation closes without a fix or a written reason why none is needed
  • check Notifiable event records kept for the full five years, with no plan limit on history
  • check Eight compliance rules checked against your records, each citing the section it comes from
  • check Incident reports and the hazard register printed from the data under your own name and logo

Your history

Years of SafetyCulture records brought home

Inspections, issues and actions come across from your Mitti exports into one database you control, instead of living on someone else's platform.

  • check A trial run of the import first, so nothing is saved until the mapping looks right
  • check Any imported serious event with no WorkSafe date on it goes straight to the top of the list
  • check Records readable by any reporting tool you like, with no API call limit
  • check Nothing held back if you stop paying anyone, because the database is yours

Switching

How to switch from Mitti

The move is mainly exporting the safety records you want to keep, matching Mitti’s template-specific columns, then checking the new records before you stop using Mitti.

  1. 1

    Export the records you want

Use Mitti’s Exporter to export inspections, templates, schedules and actions to CSV or a database. The web app can also export inspections and issue lists. Choose the records you want to keep, including closed and archived records. Export options can depend on what your account allows, so check with Mitti if you cannot find the records you need.

  2. 2

    Load the records

Bring the exported records into Health and Safety for Claude Code as a CSV import. Mitti’s column names come from the pages and questions in your own templates, so the files will not necessarily fit without matching. Ask Claude Code to map the columns and do a test run first, before loading the records you plan to use.

  3. 3

    Review the import results

Check the records and issues the import brings to your attention. In particular, imported notifiable events with no regulator-notified date are placed at the top of the attention list. Check that the imported fields landed in the right places, and look for missing details or records that did not come across. Resolve important gaps before relying on the new database.

  4. 4

    Run both side by side

Keep Mitti available for a short period while you check the new records against it. Compare the people, inspections, incidents and actions you rely on, including open and closed records you chose to bring across. Record new safety information in the system you intend to keep, and check that it is present there before you make the final switch.

  5. 5

    Stop using Mitti

When you have checked the records you need and are comfortable working from the new database, stop entering safety information in Mitti. Keep your exported records somewhere your business can access, and make sure staff know where the current safety record lives. Do not switch off Mitti until you have dealt with missing or incorrectly mapped records that matter to your business.

construction

Where the real effort goes

The real work is usually matching Mitti’s template-specific columns to your records, deciding which history to bring across, and aligning your own fields and rules. Bringing closed and archived records adds to what you need to check. Enterprise DNA handles the mapping and import setup when you have them run the system.

Questions

Instead of Mitti, answered

Mitti is the SafetyCulture app we already use. Is this the same kind of thing? expand_more

It covers the safety side of it: hazards, incidents, investigations, corrective actions, inductions, training records and inspections. Mitti also does asset maintenance, sensors and lone worker monitoring.

How do we get our history out of Mitti? expand_more

Mitti's help centre describes the Mitti Exporter, which exports inspections, templates, schedules and actions to CSV or straight into a database, and the web app can export inspections and issue lists too. Export everything you want to keep, including closed and archived records.

Will those files load in as they are? expand_more

Not on their own. Mitti names its columns after the pages and questions in each of your templates, so every business's export looks different. Matching them is part of Enterprise DNA's setup, or you can ask Claude Code to map them and do a test run first.

Our staff do checks on their phones. What do they use instead? expand_more

In the free version, whoever keeps the safety records works in plain English on a computer. For staff on the floor or on site, Enterprise DNA builds a simple phone form into your version. However a record arrives, it lands in the database you own.

We are on the free plan with under ten people. Why switch? expand_more

You may not need to yet. The case gets stronger at seat eleven, when every new person carries a monthly charge, and when you need more than five live templates or more than three years of history. The free version here has none of those limits.

Stop renting seats to read your own safety record

Thirty minutes with Sam. We look at how many Mitti seats you pay for, which checklists your teams actually run, and what your own version would look like across your sites. If it fits, we build it and run it. If not, keep the free version and run it yourself.
