Instead of Vantage

Stop renting Vantage. Own your cloud cost review system.

We build your version around the way you allocate cloud costs, bring the agreed Vantage history across and run the review process with you. Your cost owners, your rules and your records.

Vantage lists Pro at US$30 a month and Business at US$200 a month. Enterprise pricing is quoted privately.

What the subscription buys

You pay for cost visibility. You still need to own the decisions.

Vantage combines provider connections, cost analysis and reporting. If your recurring job is allocating the bill and following up exceptions, compare that workflow with a system built around your own records.

paid

Plans tied to tracked spending

The public pricing page lists Pro at US$30 a month and Business at US$200 a month. Enterprise is a separate, privately quoted offer.

sync

Provider collection

Vantage connects to providers and brings their charges together. The free version here starts with exported cost records; recurring collection is part of the system we agree and build for you.

account_tree

Allocation and grouping

Vantage offers virtual tagging and report groupings. Your own version starts with explicit account splits, named owners and a recorded reason for each change.

monitoring

Budgets and unit costs

Vantage already supports budgets and unit costs. Keeping the underlying records in your own database lets you define the review process around your business.

history

History under a plan

Vantage lists different retention periods across its plans. In your version, you set the retention policy and keep the agreed history, exports and review notes together.

fact_check

A report still needs an answer

A cost increase does not explain itself. This build records an investigation owner, due date and closure evidence beside the spending review.

What your version holds

From imported charges to an owner review

Ownership

Give every account a destination

Direct costs and agreed shared costs flow to named cost centres. The unassigned portion stays visible.

  • check Split a shared account by agreed percentages
  • check Require the shares to add up to the whole bill
  • check Keep credits in the same allocation
  • check Check allocated totals against source totals in each currency

Budgets

Separate a missing budget from an overspend

See monthly effective costs beside each recorded budget. A missing budget stays missing until an owner sets it.

  • check Review budget exceptions by owner and currency
  • check Compare billed cost with effective cost
  • check Calculate cost per recorded customer or other unit
  • check See the assumptions and data coverage behind a simple run rate

Evidence

Keep the explanation beside the number

Move from an unexplained change to a named investigation and a recorded outcome, using your own operating rules.

  • check Compare the latest two imported weeks by service
  • check Assign follow-up dates and owners
  • check Require evidence before closing an investigation
  • check Read the earlier allocation when someone changes the split

Review

Prepare the documents your owners read

Produce internal cost statements and allocation records in your business identity. Add the exact review your team needs.

  • check Owner cost statements with budgets and investigations
  • check An account allocation record with reasons
  • check A read-only weekly view and unit-cost view
  • check Purpose, ownership and stale-record checks with documented sources

Switching

How to switch from Vantage

A move usually involves exporting daily FOCUS cost data, testing and reconciling an agreed period, then mapping the budgets, allocations and review evidence you want to carry over.

  1. 1

    Export your records

Choose Vantage’s daily FOCUS CSV export, the supported route for bringing cost history across. Export one complete population for the reporting scope you agree to move, rather than mixing partial exports. The importer does not read Vantage’s default, Comparison or Count exports. If you cannot access the daily FOCUS export, check with Vantage before planning around another format.

  2. 2

    Test and load

Start with a sample daily export and run the import test without saving it. Check that the rows and fields are accepted before loading the agreed file. Then import the complete population as one dataset. The import keeps the original cost fields, and unchanged files can be imported again without creating duplicate records.

  3. 3

    Review import results

Check the import results for rejected rows and overlapping dates. The importer validates rows before writing and rejects overlapping date ranges for the same provider account, so resolve those before loading the period. Compare the imported period with the original Vantage report, including billed and effective costs, credits, and totals in each currency. Keep currencies separate because the system does not convert them.

  4. 4

    Run both side by side

Keep Vantage in use for a short agreed period while you prepare the same owner review in the new system. Compare the imported figures and allocations against Vantage and the source report, and have the relevant owners check budgets and open follow-ups. Treat any forecast as an estimate based on observed days and a linear assumption, not as a bill.

  5. 5

    Switch off Vantage

Once the agreed reporting period reconciles and your owners have checked the allocations, budgets and review evidence, make the new system the place you run the review. Keep Vantage available until those checks are complete. Then stop using Vantage for cost reviews, and follow the process that applies to your account if you intend to close it.

construction

Where the real effort goes

The main effort is usually agreeing the reporting scope, mapping your own fields and allocation rules, and deciding how much history to bring. Budgets and review evidence need separate mapping, and you need to reconcile each currency with the original report. If Enterprise DNA runs it for you, they map the agreed history and build your rules and paperwork.

Questions

Instead of Vantage, answered

Is this the whole Vantage platform? expand_more

The free version is an internal review system for imported cloud costs. It handles account allocation, budgets, unit costs, follow-ups and documents. We agree the provider collection, access controls and other capabilities your business needs before building your version.

Can we bring our Vantage history across? expand_more

Yes, the supported route is its daily FOCUS cost export. We test a sample, agree the reporting scope and reconcile each currency. Budgets, allocation rules and review evidence need separate mapping. The free importer keeps the original cost fields and rejects overlapping reporting periods for the same provider account.

Will it change our infrastructure or buy commitments? expand_more

The free version reviews records and prepares drafts. It does not access your cloud accounts or make purchases. Connections and any future operating actions are agreed separately with the owners of those accounts.

How do we know the numbers are right? expand_more

The build keeps billed and effective costs separate, retains credits and checks that allocations match the source totals. Different currencies remain separate. We reconcile the agreed period against your original report before using it for decisions. A forecast is a stated estimate, and a closed investigation is not a claim of savings.

What will Enterprise DNA charge? expand_more

We agree a setup fee for migration and the version you need, then a retainer if you want us to run it. That scope can include recurring collection, your review process and a web front end. The free version remains available for you to operate yourself.
