Six months after a $15M seed, now $50M total, backed in part by Anthropic itself. The product routes model calls to the cheapest capable model and adds.

The play

If you're spending over $10k a month on model calls, get a demo from Sapiom or a competitor and measure the routing savings.

A company called Sapiom just closed $35 million six months after raising $15 million, and the reason matters more than the dollar figure. They do one thing: make sure your AI agents don’t waste money or break things in production. That’s it. No chatbot wrapper, no fine-tuning platform. Just routing, access control, audit logs, and failure recovery.

The numbers tell you this is real. They’re processing 270 million transactions and more than 100,000 agent runs every day. That means companies are already running agents at scale and need someone to make sure a rogue call doesn’t burn through the budget or leak data. Anthropic itself backed the round, which signals the model providers see this layer as necessary infrastructure, not a threat.

What this proves is that “who controls your AI” is now a standalone business category. Six months ago, most people thought you’d just build this yourself or your vendor would handle it. Clearly not. The gap between deploying an agent and operating it safely turned out to be wide enough to fund at a $50 million run rate.

If you’re running agents in production, or planning to, you need some version of this. It doesn’t have to be Sapiom. It can be internal tooling. But you need model routing, cost caps, access rules, and a way to recover when something fails. The alternative is letting every agent call the most expensive model every time, or worse, giving them unchecked access to your systems. This is exactly the kind of operational layer we build into the Omni Command Centre, where governance and cost control sit alongside the agents themselves.

The takeaway is not that you need venture-backed middleware. It’s that the “run AI safely at scale” problem is harder than it looked three months ago, and someone will charge you to solve it if you don’t solve it first.
