Agent-teammate chat app cumora more than doubles overnight

The play

Track chat-native agent workspaces and test whether shared conversational interfaces improve coordination before committing to a dashboard redesign.

A small open source project called cumora just jumped from 948 stars to 2,325 in a single day. That’s a growth rate of about 1,638 stars a day, the second fastest we’ve tracked in our latest scan. If you’re not deep in developer tools, the number itself matters less than what it signals about where AI agent products are heading.

Cumora describes itself as a chat app where AI agents act like teammates. Instead of opening a dashboard full of separate bots and tools, you talk to your agents the way you’d message a coworker. The idea is that the chat window becomes the whole interface, not just a front door to something more complicated behind it.

What makes this worth a second look isn’t just the growth spike. A comparison post titled “Helio vs Cumora: Choosing an AI Teammate Workspace” has already shown up, written by someone outside the project. That means people are actively comparing these tools and making buying decisions, not just watching a repo get built in public. When a category gets its first head to head comparison post, that’s usually a sign it’s moving from experiment to something businesses will actually evaluate.

For owners, the real question to sit with is whether “agents live in the chat” becomes the standard way multi agent dashboards work, the way tabs became standard in browsers. If your team is already testing AI agents for support, research, or operations, it’s worth watching whether this chat first style becomes the expected shape of those tools. We track shifts like this closely because it changes how you’d want your own systems laid out. It’s the kind of pattern we watch when we design this is the kind of thing we build into an AI command centre, so the interface choices you make now don’t box you in later. This one’s still early. Watch it, don’t chase it yet.
