A small developer project is getting unusual attention because it connects an AI agent directly to a live software debugger. Built in Zig with no external dependencies, the plugin exposes x64dbg functions over HTTP through MCP. That means an MCP-capable client can set breakpoints, read memory, inspect registers, and analyse Windows executable files while a reverse-engineering session is running.

The bigger signal isn’t one tool’s popularity. This is reportedly at least the sixth independent bridge between x64dbg and MCP to appear this year. People working in reverse engineering are arriving at the same practical idea from different directions: give the agent access to the debugger, not just the code or a static report. It sits alongside discussion of a 27B model reportedly completing a reverse-engineering task in 30 minutes, though that result should be treated as an individual example, not a general benchmark.

For operators, this matters most in security, software maintenance, and technical due diligence. Teams often face unknown binaries, legacy applications with no source code, or suspected malware. A capable agent that can inspect and test a program under controlled conditions could shorten the first-pass investigation dramatically. It won’t remove the need for skilled security people, especially where a wrong conclusion carries real risk. But it can reduce the time spent gathering basic evidence.

This is the kind of thing we build into an AI command centre: giving AI controlled access to the systems and tools needed to do useful work, with the right boundaries around it.
