The play

Build approval gates and automated tests into AI coding workflows before expanding AI-generated changes across customer-facing systems.

A small open-source project called gap-trap is picking up attention because it tackles a practical problem with AI-written code. It adds rules and gates intended to keep generated code correct, without requiring someone to inspect every line manually. Just two days after posting, the repository had reached 139 GitHub stars, growing at 71 stars per day, according to the project page.

That early traction matters less as a measure of the tool itself and more as a signal of what operators want. Businesses are happy to use AI to build faster, particularly for internal tools, scripts, prototypes and workflow fixes. But speed creates a new question: who checks the output, and how much review does that add back into the process?

The answer emerging here is not more manual checking. It is putting constraints around the work before it reaches production. If your team is experimenting with AI-assisted development, think about where rules, tests and approval gates should sit. The goal is not to trust every output blindly. It is to make safe behaviour the default, so technical review focuses on the exceptions that actually need judgement.

This is the kind of thing we build into an AI command centre, where automation needs clear controls alongside the ability to move quickly.
