The play
Watch for curated skills marketplaces, and evaluate whether your training business could package trusted workflows for agent users.
Skillbay is another sign that a market may be forming around reusable skills for AI agents. Rather than every business building every workflow from scratch, the idea is to find curated capabilities that can be applied to a specific job, then combine them into a working agent setup. You can see the model in Skillbay’s marketplace.
For a business owner, the important point is not whether Skillbay becomes the winner. It’s the pattern. AI tools are moving beyond broad chat assistants toward more defined pieces of work, such as analysing information, producing a repeatable output, or following a business process. A marketplace makes those pieces easier to find, compare, and potentially reuse.
That has implications for LearningPortal-style products. They could evolve from being places where people consume training into places where teams access practical AI skills, tested workflows, and role-specific support. The value would sit in helping someone get a useful result in their actual job, not simply giving them another tool to learn.
The risk is quality control. A curated marketplace still needs clear standards around what a skill does, what information it accesses, and how reliable its output is. This is the kind of thing we build into an AI command centre, where useful AI capabilities can be organised around real business priorities rather than scattered across separate tools.
