The play
Test MCP-connected document workflows for invoices, contracts, and forms, measuring time saved against extraction and error-review costs.
Claranova’s Avanquest business has launched an MCP connector that lets Claude access its PDF API through tool calls. In plain terms, instead of asking an AI to describe what should happen to a PDF, a user can connect Claude to a service built to perform PDF work. That creates a more practical chain from instruction to action, such as working with documents through a dedicated PDF capability rather than treating the model itself as the document processor.
MCP, or Model Context Protocol, is becoming a useful bridge between AI assistants and business software. This release is a concrete example of where that matters. Many companies have PDF-heavy processes across contracts, forms, reports, invoices and customer documents. The value is not that a chatbot can talk about those files. It’s that it can be connected to the right tools to help carry out defined document tasks under a controlled workflow.
For operators, the question is where PDF handling still creates repetitive handoffs between people and systems. Start with a narrow process, define what the AI can request, and keep approval points where mistakes would be costly. This is the kind of thing we build into an AI command centre, connecting AI to the business tools that do real work. You can read the details in the original report.
