The play
If your team relies on financial charts, test agent-assisted workflows on a low-risk analysis task before trusting them with trading decisions.
OpenChart is an open-source charting app that puts AI agents into market research and analysis. You can use your own Claude, Codex, or Gemini models to research markets, build indicators, and set alerts. The app also lets you describe what to watch, then builds monitors that evaluate incoming data and investigate when a condition fires. Its GitHub page says the desktop app is free, while AI use follows your agent provider’s plan and optional cloud market data is priced separately.
The business lesson isn’t that every company needs a trading agent. It’s that AI can be built into a specific workflow, where it can respond to the tools and information people already use. For an operator, that’s a more useful question than “Where can we add AI?” Ask which repeated task has clear inputs, rules, and a meaningful next step when something changes. In a specialized workflow, an agent might help interpret a signal or prepare a response, while a person remains responsible for decisions.
