Instead of Affinity

Stop renting Affinity. Own your deal flow system.

We build your version around how your deal team works, bring your Affinity lists across and run it for you. Every partner and analyst can see the pipeline without another seat.

Affinity lists its Advanced plan at $2,700 per user per year, billed annually, and Essential at $2,000. Its pricing page does not name the currency.

What the seats pay for

A per-person bill for looking at your own pipeline

Affinity prices every user by the year. Most of a deal team is reading the pipeline, not changing it, and every one of them is a seat.

group

Every user is a seat

Essential is $2,000, Scale $2,300 and Advanced $2,700 per user per year on Affinity's own pricing page. Partners, associates, analysts and the operating team each count.

event_repeat

Billed a year at a time

Affinity bills annually. Adding an analyst halfway through the year is another annual seat.

workspace_premium

The top tier is a quote

Enterprise is custom pricing, with dedicated implementation and success support sold as an add-on.

person_add

Extra seat types are add-ons

Collaborator seats and sync-only seats are listed as add-ons. The page gives no price for them.

Limits on getting at your own data

Scale and Advanced include 100,000 calls a month to read your data from other tools. Unlimited is an Enterprise feature.

Your own deal flow system

The jobs a deal team does every week, as plain questions

Pipeline

Nothing goes quiet without someone noticing

Every deal shows its stage, days in stage, the last time anyone spoke to anyone at the company, and the next step.

  • check Deals untouched for three weeks, with the owner
  • check Next steps due this week and the ones already late
  • check The Monday pipeline meeting written in one answer
  • check Every pass recorded with its reason, ready for when the founder comes back

Network

Find the warm way in

Introductions are recorded with who made them, so the path into a company is a question, not a memory.

  • check Who we know at a company and who last spoke to them
  • check Who introduced us to each founder
  • check Which referrers send deals that reach diligence, and which never do
  • check Draft follow-up emails for a person to send

Committee and portfolio

Committee and reporting in the same records

Committee decisions, their conditions and the figures portfolio companies send sit beside the deal.

  • check The committee queue with what was asked for last time
  • check A draft committee memo built from every touch and NDA
  • check Portfolio companies late with their figures
  • check A draft quarterly investor update from current records

Investors and controls

The checks a fund lives under

Record checks against NZ and AU rules, each with its source, so the gaps show up before a close.

  • check Wholesale, eligible and accountant certificates past two years
  • check Open deals on listed companies missing from the restricted list
  • check Deals in diligence without a signed, current NDA
  • check Contacts untouched for three years with no privacy review

Switching

How to switch from Affinity

A move involves exporting three core lists, mapping your fields and stages, checking the records, then running both systems side by side before you switch.

  1. 1

    Export your Affinity lists

From Affinity’s list view, export the organizations, people and opportunities lists as CSVs. Bring them across in that order. Notes and introductions need separate exports if you want to bring them over, and mapping them is part of a managed switch. Affinity says its Crunchbase fields and Connections column do not export, so check which data your account can provide before you plan the move.

  2. 2

    Load and test the records

Start with a test import that checks a list without saving it. Then load organizations, people and opportunities in that order. The free version keeps each original column and maps Affinity statuses to your stages. Before saving, make sure the fields and stages match how your team works, rather than assuming your current setup will fit without changes.

  3. 3

    Review what the import flags

Check the import results before relying on the new records. The whole file is checked before anything is saved, and one bad row means nothing from that file is saved. Review the rows or mappings identified as problems, correct them, then run the import again. Confirm that the original columns are present and the mapped stages make sense to your team.

  4. 4

Run both systems side by side

Keep Affinity available while your team uses the new database and Claude Code for a short period. Compare the records your team relies on, including organizations, people, opportunities, owners and stages. Use the overlap to find gaps in your mappings and decide whether any separately exported notes or introductions need further work before Affinity is turned off.

  5. 5

    Switch off Affinity

Once your team has checked the records and is comfortable working in the new system, stop using Affinity. Deal Flow has no web front end, so your team works with the database through Claude Code or another supported coding assistant. Make sure everyone who needs to use it understands that workflow before you end the side-by-side period.

construction

Where the real effort goes

The CSV transfer is usually not the hard part. Most of the work is mapping your own fields, stages and rules, then deciding how much history to bring. Affinity’s list exports do not include notes, the activity timeline, attachments or relationship scores, and notes and introductions need separate exports. If Enterprise DNA runs the switch for you, it handles the mapping work.

Questions

Instead of Affinity, answered

Affinity captures relationships from our email automatically. Does this? expand_more

The free version records the meetings, calls and introductions your team logs, and asks for nothing more. Automatic capture from your email and calendar is something Enterprise DNA builds into your version, connected to the mail system you use.

What comes across from Affinity? expand_more

Affinity exports each organization, people and opportunity list as a CSV from the list view. The free version reads those files, keeps every original column, and maps Affinity statuses to your stages. Notes and introductions are separate exports: mapping them is part of what Enterprise DNA does in a switch. Affinity says Crunchbase fields and the Connections column do not export.

Does this check our investor certificates for us? expand_more

It flags NZ safe harbour and eligible investor certificates, and Australian accountant certificates, once they pass two years from signing, and committed investors with none on file. It is a record check with the rule cited. Whether an investor qualifies stays with you and your lawyer.

What does it cost compared with Affinity? expand_more

Affinity lists $2,000 to $2,700 per user per year, billed annually, with Enterprise on a quote. The free version has no licence fee; hosting it and using a coding assistant have their own costs. Enterprise DNA charges one setup fee for your version, then a retainer, with no per-seat pricing.

Our team wants a pipeline board to look at. Can we keep one? expand_more

Yes. The free version gives read-only pages for the Monday meeting, the portfolio and the fundraise. Enterprise DNA builds a web board, forms and the reports your partners want on top of the same database, which you own and can export at any time.
