Instead of ManageEngine AssetExplorer

Stop renting ManageEngine AssetExplorer. Own your IT asset register.

We build your version around how you issue, recover and retire equipment. We map your AssetExplorer asset records, add the connections you need and run it for you.

ManageEngine lists US$11,995 a year for its on-premises subscription covering 10,000 IT assets. Cloud plans have a separate price list.

What the subscription buys

Asset counts set the licence bill. Your workflow sets the comparison.

AssetExplorer prices by the number of IT assets. Its on-premises annual subscription lists US$11,995 for 10,000 assets. Compare the register you need with the wider tools included in your current setup.

Switching

How to switch from ManageEngine AssetExplorer

A move usually involves exporting and mapping your asset report, testing the import, and reconciling records before cutover.

  1. 1

    Export your asset report

Use an AssetExplorer custom report and export the asset records as CSV. Include the fields you rely on for custody, stocktake, support dates, licence counts and disposal review where your report includes them. AssetExplorer documents CSV exports from custom reports. If you are unsure what your account allows or how to export a field, check with ManageEngine AssetExplorer.

  2. 2

    Map and test the import

Map the report columns to the replacement’s fields, then test the import as a dry run before loading records for real. The import preserves the original source rows, and imported devices remain unverified until someone checks them. Use the test to confirm that the report maps as expected and that the record counts can be reconciled.

  3. 3

    Review import warnings

Check the import results for count differences, changed source rows and identity collisions. Identical imports are skipped, while changed source rows and identity collisions stop the import for reconciliation. Resolve those cases before continuing. Do not treat an imported custodian name as proof of current custody. Have an operator verify the actual device and record the observation.

  4. 4

Run both systems side by side

Keep AssetExplorer available for a short period while operators check the new records and workflows. Compare the asset counts and review custody, stocktake and disposal evidence against the records in AssetExplorer. Verify current custody with the people handling the devices. Use what you find to correct the field map or resolve remaining record differences before cutover.

  5. 5

    Switch off AssetExplorer

Once you have reconciled the counts and checked the records and workflows you need, switch off AssetExplorer. Before you do, confirm that any AssetExplorer functions outside the replacement’s asset register and review workflow have another plan. Discovery, remote control, purchasing, contracts and employee self-service need their own scope.

construction

Where the real effort goes

The main work is usually mapping your own fields and rules, then deciding which history to bring across. The import preserves source rows, but it does not transfer attachments or every record from the wider product, and old custodian names do not verify a handover. Enterprise DNA maps your AssetExplorer records and handles this work when you have them run your version.

Questions

Instead of ManageEngine AssetExplorer, answered

Is this a replacement for every AssetExplorer feature? expand_more

The free version replaces the operator-managed asset register and review workflow: custody, observations, dates, simple per-device licence counts and disposal evidence. Discovery, remote control, purchasing, contracts and employee self-service need their own scope. Enterprise DNA builds and connects the parts your business needs before you retire the old setup.

Can we bring our current asset records across? expand_more

Yes. AssetExplorer documents CSV exports from custom reports. We map your asset report, preserve its original values and reconcile the counts. The free version keeps imported devices unverified until checked. It does not turn an old custodian name into a verified handover, or transfer attachments and every other record from the wider product.

Does a clear check mean we meet every security or licence obligation? expand_more

No. The checks flag missing records, overdue reviews and simple licence count differences. A person still verifies the evidence, contractual rights, access controls and actual sanitisation. Your version can add the rules that apply to your organisation.

What will our version cost? expand_more

Enterprise DNA scopes one setup fee, then a retainer for the ongoing work or managed service you choose. The free code has no licence fee. Hosting, agent subscriptions, connections and operating time still have costs. We agree the scope before work starts.

Do we have to change everything in one day? expand_more

Start with a test import and a count reconciliation. Confirm current custody and disposal evidence with your operators. Enterprise DNA can build the screens and connections you need, and agree the cutover once the records and workflow have been checked.
