Instead of CaptivateIQ
Stop renting CaptivateIQ. Own your commission system.
We build your version around your plans and your payroll, bring your CaptivateIQ payees, deals and payout history across, and run it for you. Your commission rules stay yours.
CaptivateIQ publishes no prices. Its pricing page charges per seat, counting every admin and every person paid commission, plus a one-time setup fee, and sells its revenue accounting report as an add-on.

What the subscription charges for
A seat for every rep, to work out a number your payroll pays
Commission software bills by headcount. Most of what you pay for is the screen in front of a calculation your business already understands.
A seat for every payee
CaptivateIQ counts every admin and every person you pay commission as a seat, including reps who only open their statement once a month. Hire five reps and the bill grows with them.
A one-time setup fee
CaptivateIQ charges a setup fee to build your plans in its worksheets. Change the plan next year and you are back in someone else's formula builder.
Revenue accounting as an add-on
The report that tells your accountant how much commission to spread over a multi-year contract is a separate subscription. Here it is one question.
Managed services tiers
CaptivateIQ sells three tiers of support and managed services on top of the software. The basic tier promises a reply within 24 hours.
What a published price looks like
QuotaPath, a rival that does publish prices, charges $800 a month for its Premium platform fee, which covers five users, then $50 a month for each user after that. That platform fee alone is $9,600 a year.
Your plan logic in their format
Plans live as worksheets inside the vendor. The payouts export as a spreadsheet; the rules that produced them do not.
Your version
The commission month, run from a database you own
MONTH-END
A close that cannot drift
Every month locks the same way, and a locked month never changes.
- check One list of everything stopping the lock: uncredited deals, splits that do not add to 100%, reps with no plan, open disputes
- check Locking freezes every statement line by line; the database refuses edits and deletes afterwards
- check Corrections land in next month as an adjustment, with the reason and who approved it
- check Payroll gets one total per person, per currency
REPS
Statements reps can check themselves
Every statement shows each deal, each rate band and each adjustment that made the number.
- check Tiered bands with an accelerator above quota, worked out on the slice of sales inside each band
- check Split deals, spiffs, draws and corrections, each with a reason
- check A branded statement and a plan letter for every rep, in your colours
- check "How far is each rep from the next band, with how many days left?" answered in one line each
CLAWBACKS AND DISPUTES
The awkward parts, handled in writing
Cancelled deals and rep queries stop living in email threads.
- check Paid deals cancelled inside the clawback window listed with the amount to recover from each rep
- check Recovered at the rate that month actually paid, once per deal
- check Disputes logged in the rep's own words, with an owner and a deadline
- check A draft reply with the deal facts filled in, never sent without you
ANZ RULES
The rules that apply once commission is paid
Checks the CaptivateIQ dashboard was never built to run for a New Zealand or Australian employer.
- check Australian super on commission at 12%, and Payday Super: the fund must receive it within 7 business days of payday
- check New Zealand holiday pay: commission paid outside payroll is flagged, because it counts as gross earnings
- check Pay records that show how every commission was worked out, kept for seven years
- check A schedule for your accountant of commission to spread over multi-year deals

Questions for your month-end
Each one runs against the fictional demo business today. On your version, it runs against your own reps and deals.
Switching
How to switch from CaptivateIQ
The move involves exporting your payees, deals and payout history, setting up your plans, and checking a month of results in both systems before you switch.
- 1
Export your records
Export your payees, the deals you load from your CRM, and your payout history from CaptivateIQ as CSV files. The exact export options can depend on your account, so check with CaptivateIQ if you are unsure how to get these records out. Keep the original files available while you prepare and check the import.
- 2
Set up your plans
CaptivateIQ plans do not export, so you need to set up your rate bands and clawback rules in the new system. Review your plan worksheets and formulas, and make sure the rules reflect what you currently pay. If a plan has a rule that is unique to your business, include that in the setup work before you compare commission totals.
- 3
Test and load the records
Start with a test run of the exported files. It shows what would come across and what would be skipped, so review that result before bringing the records in. Once the test looks right, import your payees, deals and past payouts. Past payouts keep their totals and original rows in the new system.
- 4
Check totals side by side
Review anything the test run said would be skipped, and check that payees, deals and past payouts are represented as expected. Then run one month in CaptivateIQ and the new system at the same time. Compare the commission totals and resolve differences before moving on. Plans and rules need particular attention because they were not part of the CaptivateIQ export.
- 5
Switch off CaptivateIQ
Once the month matches in both systems and you are satisfied with the imported records and plan setup, make the new system your source for commission work. Confirm the hand-off with anyone who uses the reports or prepares payroll, then stop running the commission cycle in CaptivateIQ. Keep any records you need from your old account.
Where the real effort goes
The main work is mapping your own fields and commission rules, then deciding how much payout history to bring across. Plans do not export, so bands and clawback rules need to be set up and checked against a month you already paid. If you have Enterprise DNA run the system for you, they handle this mapping, plan setup and history migration.

Questions
Instead of CaptivateIQ, answered
Can we bring our CaptivateIQ history across? expand_more
Yes. Export your payees, the deals you load from your CRM and your payout reports as spreadsheet files, do a test run that shows exactly what would come across and what would be skipped, then bring it in. Past payouts arrive with their totals and the original rows kept. Plans do not export from CaptivateIQ, so your bands and clawback rules are set up once, and we run one month in both systems until the totals match.
Our plans are complicated. Will this cope? expand_more
The free version handles monthly quotas, tiered rate bands with an accelerator, split deals, spiffs, draws, corrections and clawbacks. Quarterly bonuses, team overrides, multi-currency plans or a rule unique to your business are what Enterprise DNA builds into your version, and every rule is tested against a month you already paid.
Do our reps get their own login? expand_more
In the free version reps get a statement each month that shows every deal, band and adjustment, and the commission admin answers questions. If your reps want to watch their numbers during the month, we build a read-only page for them into your version.
Does this pay our reps or file with the ATO or IRD? expand_more
No. Payroll still pays commission, withholds tax and makes super and KiwiSaver contributions. This system works out the number, freezes the statement, hands payroll the totals and checks afterwards that super reached the fund on time and that New Zealand commission went through payroll.
What does Enterprise DNA charge? expand_more
One setup fee to build your version and bring your history across, then a retainer for ongoing work. There is no charge per rep, so hiring does not change the bill. If you would rather run it yourself, the free version is yours to keep.
