How to choose a CorePlan alternative
- 1
What your bill follows
Check whether your bill follows rig count, each submitted plod or shift, and add-ons for forms and staff. CorePlan’s published Basic price covers 1 to 3 rigs, while larger fleets are quoted privately. Compare the full bill with the way your work is priced.
- 2
Who owns your records
Ask whether you can keep working records in a database you own, rather than having your plods, rates and claims live only inside a vendor’s software. Owning the database gives you control of those records and the way you use them.
- 3
Fit with your own rules
Check it can reflect the details your work depends on, such as each client’s rates, depth bands, crew hours, consumables and sign-off rules. A version built around your business can follow how you handle plods and claims instead of making you reshape your process to fit a standard setup.
- 4
What switching involves
CorePlan plods can be exported, then brought across into your new system. Find out what needs entering for open plods, and how your rates and approval status will carry over. Before the first claim goes out, run the last claim period in both and compare the results line by line.

Questions
CorePlan alternatives, answered
How much does CorePlan cost for a drilling contractor? expand_more
CorePlan lists Basic at $750 a month for 1 to 3 rigs. Professional and Enterprise are quoted privately. Forms are from $550 a month and Staff Management from $500 a month, with additional fees for each rig or staff member. Enterprise DNA charges one setup fee, then a monthly retainer.
Can you bring our plods across when we switch? expand_more
CorePlan exports plods to CSV. The exported activity lines are grouped into plods by rig, date and shift, with holes, depths, hours, bits and approval status. For open plods, crew hours, consumables and forms are entered once. Enterprise DNA handles this on the paid paths.
How can we check that the charges match our rates? expand_more
Charges are worked out from each contract’s metres by depth band, hourly items and consumables. Before you switch, the last claim period is run in both systems and compared line by line. Any difference, such as a rate band or activity code, is fixed before the first claim goes out.
Can we try the free version before paying for a build? expand_more
There is a free version you can run yourself. If you want a version shaped around your business, Enterprise DNA brings your CorePlan data across and runs it for you, for one setup fee then a monthly retainer. The right route depends on how much help you want with setup and ongoing running.
