Enterprise DNA

Instead of EQuIS

Stop renting EQuIS. Own your environmental data system.

We build your version around how your scientists load, check and report results, bring your EQuIS data across and run it for you. More results stop costing more in software.

EarthSoft lists EQuIS Online from USD 420 a month by data size, plus USD 10 a month for every user and HELIOS, required on every EQuIS system, from USD 24,000 a year.

What the subscription covers

You pay by the record, the seat and the module

An environmental data system holds sites, locations, samples and results, and the criteria they are checked against. EarthSoft publishes what EQuIS charges for each layer on top. Look at which part is your data and which part is the meter.

storage

A tier set by how many results you hold

EQuIS Online runs from USD 420 a month for 250,000 records to USD 7,000 a month for unlimited records on the premium schemas. Every year of monitoring moves you up.

cloud_sync

A required add-on

HELIOS is listed as required on every EQuIS system since July 2024, from USD 24,000 a year.

group

A fee for every person who logs in

Each user needs an access licence at USD 10 a month, before any desktop seat.

desktop_windows

Desktop seats for the people doing the work

A Professional seat on EQuIS Online is USD 220 a month at Standard and USD 550 a month at PremierDG, per concurrent user. Mapping is another USD 170 a month per user.

build

Maintenance on top

The price list adds a maintenance agreement at 20 percent of the portfolio for hosted systems and 25 percent for perpetual licences.

science

The results themselves

Samples, lab results, limits of reporting, duplicates and blanks. This is plain data your labs already send as flat files, and it is the record your consent depends on.

The system you own

Run monitoring and reporting from one place

Screening

Every result checked the day it lands

Load the lab file and every result is checked against every criterion that applies at that site, with the units converted.

  • check ANZG 2018 freshwater values, NEPM 2013 HIL A and NESCS soil standards loaded with their sources
  • check Your consent and licence limits at the discharge point or location they name
  • check A non-detect whose reporting limit is above the guideline flagged, because it proves nothing
  • check Results in mg/L, ug/L and g/m3 compared without anyone converting by hand

Consents

Know who has to be told, and by when

Every consent and licence exceedance carries a notification clock until a person records what was done.

  • check Notify-by date from the condition in your consent, immediate for a NSW licence
  • check Monitoring rounds the consent requires, flagged the day they go overdue
  • check Monitoring report and annual return dates, three weeks out
  • check New Zealand consents flagged before the six-month renewal date that keeps you operating

Data quality

The QA section writes itself

The checks a reviewer asks about run on every round, so a weak result is caught before it reaches a report.

  • check Field duplicates over your acceptance limit for water and soil
  • check Detections in trip and rinsate blanks
  • check Results analysed outside the holding time
  • check Samples at the lab past the turnaround you agreed

Trends and reports

Answer the questions the screens never did

Every result keeps its history, so the patterns at each point are one question away.

  • check What is rising at each location against its last four results
  • check Exceedance notices, monitoring reports and client letters drafted, never sent without a person
  • check Results summaries, consent compliance summaries and sample registers in your own brand
  • check Every result at one bore since a date, in the order you want it

Switching

How to switch from EQuIS

A move usually involves exporting the records you want to keep, checking how they map into the new database, and running both systems side by side before you switch.

  1. 1

    Export the records you need

Export a results report from EQuIS as CSV, or use the EDDs your labs already send. Include the sites, monitoring locations, samples and results you want to bring across, including the history you have chosen to keep. If you are unsure what your EQuIS account allows you to export, check with EQuIS before you start.

  2. 2

    Test the import

Load a test export first, without saving the records. This lets you see whether the file is recognised and whether its columns match the information the database expects. The import reads EQuIS file column names, and you can map your own headings where needed. Start with one site so you can review the result before loading more records.

  3. 3

    Review the import checks

Check what the import reports before you proceed. It creates new locations on the site, links duplicates to their parent samples and leaves repeated records unchanged. If a result differs from one already recorded, the load stops so a person can check it. Resolve those differences and confirm the records look right before importing the rest of your chosen history.

  4. 4

Run both systems side by side

Keep EQuIS available while you use the new database for a short period. Compare incoming lab records and the checks you rely on in both systems, and look for missing records or differences that need review. This gives you time to confirm that your fields and rules are set up for your work before you depend on the new system alone.

  5. 5

    Switch off EQuIS

Once you have checked the imported records and are comfortable with the side-by-side comparison, make the new database your working system. Keep any EQuIS exports and records your business needs to retain. The replacement is a database and Claude Code, with no web front end, so account for that change in how your team accesses and works with the data.

construction

Where the real effort goes

The main work is usually mapping your own fields and rules, then deciding how much history to bring across. The import can read EQuIS file column names, but your headings or business-specific rules may need attention. You will also need to review records the import stops for checking. If you have Enterprise DNA run the installation, they handle the migration and reconcile the full history with you.

Questions

Instead of EQuIS, answered

Does it notify the regulator for us? expand_more

No. It keeps the clock: each consent exceedance shows when it has to be reported and stays flagged until a person records that the council or EPA was told, or why it was not required. The notice is drafted for your scientist to check and send.

Will our EQuIS data come across? expand_more

Yes. The free version reads the column names the EQuIS file formats use, so a results export or the electronic files your labs already send come in site by site, with duplicates linked to their parent sample. Repeats change nothing, and a result that differs from the one recorded stops the load for a person to check. Enterprise DNA moves the whole history and reconciles it with you.

Are the guideline values right? expand_more

Each set carries the link to the published guideline it came from, and the values loaded are the published ANZG 2018, NEPM 2013 and NESCS figures. Guidelines change, so check them against the current version; adding a new set or your own site-specific values takes minutes.

We rely on maps and cross sections. What then? expand_more

The free version answers in plain records and branded summaries, not pictures. Enterprise DNA builds maps of results by location into your version, or you keep a mapping tool for that one job and stop paying for the rest.

How does the cost compare with EQuIS? expand_more

EarthSoft publishes its price list, so bring your last EQuIS invoice and count your users and seats. Our installed version has one setup fee, then a retainer for the work we agree, with no charge per record, per user or per module. The free version costs only hosting and your agent if you run it yourself.
