Instead of Inprotech
Stop renting Inprotech. Own your IP docket.
We build your version around how your attorneys and records team work, bring your Inprotech cases and due dates across and run it for you. Your docket stops being a licence.
Clarivate publishes no price for Inprotech. It is licensed by module, with an implementation project and yearly maintenance on top. Bring your invoice to the call.

What the licence covers
Most of the bill is the front end
Inprotech bundles case records, a rules engine, workflow, documents and billing into one licence. Separate the part your records team runs on every day from the part your firm could own.
A seat for every person
Attorneys, paralegals and the records team all need the docket. Ask Clarivate how your agreement counts users before the next renewal.
Modules you may not use
Inprotech is sold in modules. Check which ones your team opens each week against what the invoice lists.
The implementation project
Configuring rules, screens and reports takes months and a consultant. Every change after that is another piece of work.
The docket itself
Cases, office actions and the dates they start. This is the record the whole firm depends on, and it is plain data.
Renewal tracking
Due dates, reminders, client instructions and grace periods. Dates and states you can own and see for yourself.
Letters and reports
Reporting letters, renewal notices and docket reports. Your own version renders them in your firm's brand.
The docket you own
Run the records week from one place
Deadlines
Never lose a right to a missed date
Record what IP Australia or IPONZ sent and the deadlines it starts go on the docket, each with the rule that set it.
- check Works out acceptance, response, opposition, convention and national phase dates from the AU and NZ rules
- check Shows the rule and the basis beside every date, so anyone can check the arithmetic
- check Refuses to move a deadline the law does not let you extend
- check Lists missed and seven-day dates first, every morning
Second check
Two people on every statutory date
The control a good records team already runs, built into the system instead of a spreadsheet.
- check Every statutory date waits for a second person to check it against the office document
- check The person who entered a date cannot be the one who checks it
- check An extended date goes back to unchecked until someone looks again
- check Unchecked dates by attorney, so the work can be shared out
Renewals
No mark lapses by accident
Every renewal sits in one of a handful of states, from reminder due to paid, with the grace period worked out.
- check Flags renewals due in 90 days with no reminder sent
- check Chases instructions that have not come back 30 days out
- check Shows marks in their grace period with the last day to pay
- check Puts the next renewal on file the moment one is paid
Clients
Tell clients what they need to know
The letters and reports clients expect, drafted from the records for an attorney to finish.
- check Drafts the reporting letter on the latest office action, with the dates that matter
- check Drafts one renewal reminder per client covering every right due
- check A portfolio report per client, by country and kind, in your brand
- check Records each instruction with who gave it and when

Ten questions for your Monday docket meeting
Each one runs against the free version's fictional demonstration practice today. Inprotech has screens and reports too; these are the questions a principal asks across them.
Switching
How to switch from Inprotech
A move is usually less about loading the supported exports than mapping your fields and rules, choosing which history to bring, and checking dates before you rely on them.
- 1
Export your records
Export your case list from an Inprotech case search, then export your due date list. The free version imports these two exports. Inprotech supports case search and due date list exports to Excel or CSV. If your setup offers different export options, check with Inprotech what your account allows before you proceed.
- 2
Run a test import
Load the case list and due date list into the import as a test run first. The free version offers a test run, so use it to see how your exported records will come across before loading them for live use. You do not need to work through commands yourself. If Enterprise DNA is installing and running the system for you, it handles this import work.
- 3
Review the import results
Review what the test run flags before loading records for live use. Check how your fields and records map, and decide how to handle anything that does not carry over. Every imported date arrives unchecked. Have a second person check each statutory date against the office document. The date printed on that document wins over a computed date.
- 4
Run both systems briefly
Keep Inprotech available while you start using the new database for a short period. Compare the cases and due dates you rely on in both systems, and make sure your team can find the records it needs and check dates in the new system. Use this overlap to resolve any remaining mapping or record questions before you stop relying on Inprotech.
- 5
Switch off Inprotech
When your team has checked the imported dates and is ready to work from the new database, stop using Inprotech for your day to day docketing. Make the new system the place your team checks cases and due dates. If questions remain about records or dates, resolve them before you switch off Inprotech.
Where the real effort goes
The real work is usually mapping your own fields and rules, then deciding how much history to bring. The free version imports the case search export and due date list. Mapping a full extract, including renewal history, is part of the work Enterprise DNA does when you have them install and run your version.

Questions
Instead of Inprotech, answered
Who is responsible if a deadline is missed? expand_more
Your attorneys, as now. The system works dates out from rules it has written down, each with its source, and insists a second person checks every statutory date against the office document. The date printed on the document always wins over a computed one.
Will our Inprotech data come across? expand_more
The free version imports Inprotech's case search export and its due date list, with a test run first. Every imported date arrives unchecked, so your team checks it once. Mapping a full extract, renewal history included, is part of what Enterprise DNA does when it builds your version.
What about countries outside Australia and New Zealand? expand_more
The free version works out dates for AU, NZ and PCT cases, and holds foreign cases filed through agents with dates entered by hand. Enterprise DNA adds the rules for the other countries your firm files in.
What does it cost compared with Inprotech? expand_more
Clarivate quotes Inprotech privately, so compare with your own invoice. Our installed version has one setup fee, then a retainer for the work we agree, with no charge per user or per module. The free version costs only hosting and the agent you run it with.
Is client information safe? expand_more
Your records sit in a database your firm owns, in the hosting you choose. For the managed version, Enterprise DNA agrees access, backups and recovery checks with you before the switch. Exports and drafts stay inside your own systems.
Make the next renewal run yours
Book 30 minutes with Sam. Bring your Inprotech invoice, a case list export and the reports your records team runs every Monday. We will map what your firm needs and what it can stop paying for.
