Instead of Insly

Stop renting Insly. Own your underwriting agency system.

We build your version around your binders and products, bring your Insly policies across, and run it for you. One setup fee, then a retainer, however much premium you write.

Insly publishes no price for agencies. Its pricing page says "Get a tailored quote": a monthly fee for the base package, extra modules on top, and pricing that flexes with the volumes transacted through the platform.

What the subscription is for

A quote you cannot see, and a fee that follows your premium

Insly's agency plan has no public price. Its pricing page describes how the bill is built instead. The records underneath are the ones every agency already keeps for its insurers.

trending_up

Pricing that moves with your volume

Insly says its agency pricing flexes with scope, implementation and the volumes transacted through the platform. Write more premium and the system can cost more, though the work per policy is the same.

extension

A base package, then modules

A monthly fee for the base package, plus additional modules. What counts as a module is set in the quote, not on the page.

build

Implementation before you start

Implementation for a fixed fee or pay as you go, depending on size and scope. Either way it is paid before the first policy is bound.

request_quote

No number until you ask

Every plan on the pricing page reads "Get a tailored quote". You cannot compare it with anything until a sales call is booked.

dashboard

Screens over ordinary records

Binders, products, quotes, policies, premium and claims. The dashboards show what the vendor chose to chart, not the question your insurer asked this month.

gavel

The binder rules kept in your head

Bordereau due dates, settlement days, the premium cap and the referral rule usually live in the binder wording and a spreadsheet, not next to the policies they govern.

Your agency, owned

One set of records for the binder, the book and the law

Binders

Write inside your authority, every time

Each binder with the classes it covers, the largest limit you can bind, its premium cap, commission, and the days you have to report and settle.

  • check A quote outside the binder is referred before it can be bound.
  • check Premium written against each cap, and whether you run out at this pace.
  • check Binders ending in 60 days with no replacement loaded.
  • check Every policy checked against the authority schedule, with the clause cited.

Underwriting

Quote, refer and bind in one conversation

Rate a risk from the product, see straight away if it needs the insurer, and bind it the moment the broker says yes.

  • check Quotes rated from your own rates and minimum premiums.
  • check Referrals with the reason recorded and the days waited.
  • check Renewal quotes at the same terms, or the underwriter's new price.
  • check Endorsements and cancellations with the refund worked out pro rata.

Insurers

Bordereaux and remittances on time

Every premium movement becomes a bordereau line with tax, commission and the net owed to the insurer, in the month it takes effect.

  • check The risk bordereau for each binder and month, ready to send.
  • check What you owe each insurer, by month, with the day it falls due.
  • check Premium the brokers have not paid you, and how old it is.
  • check A claims bordereau and loss ratio for each binder.

The law

The notices and clocks that cannot slip

The rules an agency in New Zealand or Australia works under, checked against the records, each with its source.

  • check Insurance Contracts Act section 58 expiry notices, 14 days before expiry.
  • check Claim responses and decisions against the Code of Practice timeframes.
  • check Complaint responses within 30 days under ASIC's dispute rules.
  • check House standards for New Zealand claims and complaints, set to your binder.

Switching

How to switch from Insly

In practice, the move involves exporting your policy list or monthly bordereaux, matching your fields, and checking the imported records before you switch.

  1. 1

    Export your Insly records

Insly does not publish its export layout, so start with the policy list you can get from your account, or use your latest monthly risk bordereau for each insurer. Export what your account allows, usually CSV or Excel, and check with Insly if you cannot find the right option. Include the policy, insured, broker and premium details you want to bring across.

  2. 2

    Set up binders and products

Before loading policies, make sure the new system has the binders and products they belong to. The import matches records to those. Gather your binder and product details, then enter them or have them set up for you. Decide which history you need to carry across, since the policy list or bordereau is the starting point for the move.

  3. 3

    Test and load the records

Use the Insly import in the new system and run a test first if the import offers one. Review the test results before loading the records. Policies, insureds, brokers and premium come across. Open quotes and claims are added once, so make sure you have a plan for bringing those in too.

  4. 4

    Check what the import flags

Read the import report before relying on the records. Check every item it flags, including any field that did not map or record that needs attention, then correct the source data or mapping and run the import again. Confirm that policies, insureds, brokers and premium are attached to the right binder and product.

  5. 5

    Run both, then switch

Keep Insly available while you use the new system alongside it for a short period. Compare policy and premium records, and check the work you rely on against both systems before you move your team’s day to day work. Once you are satisfied the records and process are right, make the new system your source of truth and switch off Insly.

construction

Where the real effort goes

The work is usually less about loading rows and more about matching your Insly fields to the new records, setting up binders and products, and deciding how much history to bring. The policy list or bordereau gets policies, insureds, brokers and premium across. Open quotes and claims are added once. Enterprise DNA handles this mapping and setup when you have them install and run it.

Questions

Instead of Insly, answered

Our brokers quote through Insly's portal. What happens to that? expand_more

The free version has no broker portal: brokers email or call, and your underwriter quotes from the records in a minute, which is how most agencies still take most of their business. If online quoting for brokers matters to you, it is part of the version we build, on your products and your rates.

Can we bring our Insly policies across? expand_more

Yes. Insly does not publish its export layout, so we work from what you can already get out: your policy list saved as a spreadsheet, or the monthly risk bordereau you send each insurer. Policies, insureds, brokers and premium come across, matched to your binders and products. Open quotes and claims are added once, and we do that for you when we set it up.

Will our insurers accept the bordereaux? expand_more

A bordereau is your policies and premium for the month in the layout the insurer asks for. This produces each binder's risk and claims bordereau from the same records the policies sit in, with tax, commission and the net owed. Where an insurer wants its own column layout, we set that up for each binder.

Is the compliance checking legal advice? expand_more

No. It checks your records against the rules you already work to and names the source of each: the Insurance Contracts Act for expiry notices, the General Insurance Code of Practice for claim timeframes, ASIC's dispute rules for complaints, and your own binder wording for authority, reporting and settlement. Your compliance lead still decides. They get a clean list to decide from.

What does Enterprise DNA charge? expand_more

A setup fee, then a monthly retainer, agreed on the call. It does not rise as you write more premium or add a binder. Bring your Insly quote or invoice and we will compare it with what your version would take to build and run.
