Instead of Registry Direct

Stop renting Registry Direct. Own your unit registry.

We build your registry around how your funds and syndicates actually run, bring your Registry Direct holders and history across, and run it for you through Omni by Enterprise DNA.

Registry Direct quotes its Trusts plan privately. Its published Companies Premium plan is $200 a month plus 50 cents per holding a month, before GST, with identity checks at $9 per individual and support at $250 an hour.

What the subscription charges for

A registry bill that grows with every holder

Registry Direct publishes its company plans and its add-on fees; trust registries are quoted. These are the lines on its own pricing page.

groups

A fee on every holding

Companies Premium is $200 a month plus 50 cents for each holding, every month. Over a year that is $2,400 before a single holding is counted, then $6 a year for each one.

request_quote

Trust registries by quote

The Trusts plan, the one with distributions, tax statements, capital calls and periodic statements, has no published price. You find out what a unit trust costs on a call.

fingerprint

Identity checks by the head

AML/CTF and PEP checks are $9 per individual and $20 per company, plus $2 per PEP check. A capital raise with a few hundred new investors adds up.

support_agent

Help by the hour

Technical support and operational support are each $250 an hour. Data conversion is $250 an hour on the Standard plan.

lock

No way back down

Plans may not be downgraded, according to the same pricing page. Once a register moves to Premium, it stays there.

move_item

Leaving costs months of fees

The full export of your register, communications and statements is a paid offboarding package, charged at the monthly rate for 18 or 24 months in advance. The free export covers holders and transaction history.

What your business owns

The register, the money and the rules, in one place

Register

Units only move when the rules are met

Every holding is the sum of its settled history, so you can see the register at any date.

  • check Applications wait until identity is verified and the money is recorded, and the system refuses to issue units before that.
  • check Transfers are refused to a buyer whose identity check is not done.
  • check Redemptions cannot exceed the holding, and a full redemption opens an exit statement automatically.
  • check See how many holders make up half of each fund, and anyone over 20%, in one question.

Distributions

Withholding worked out on every line

A draft distribution shows gross, withheld and net for each holder before anyone approves it.

  • check Australian holders with no TFN or ABN quoted have 47% withheld, with the reason on their line.
  • check Non-resident holders hold the run until the fund accountant gives their rate.
  • check Holders with no bank account on file are flagged before the payment run.
  • check Approval and payment are recorded with names and dates; the bank makes the payment.

Compliance

The rules checked, with the source beside each one

One question lists every gap on the register, its rule and its due date.

  • check Periodic and exit statements for retail holders, due within six months of the period end or exit.
  • check Overdue identity reviews by risk rating, and anyone holding units without a completed check.
  • check New Zealand PIE investors with no prescribed investor rate, taxed at the 28% default.
  • check Foreign tax residents with no self-certification on file, ahead of CRS and FATCA reporting.

Paperwork

Statements and notices in your own brand

The documents a registry must send, produced from the register itself.

  • check Holding statements, distribution statements, and periodic and exit statements.
  • check Capital call notices, and reminder letters for anyone who has not paid.
  • check A register extract with name, address, units and date entered for each holder.
  • check Every letter is drafted for a person to check and send; nothing goes out on its own.

Ten questions about your register, answered from your own records

The free version answers each of these today. Registry Direct has reports and exports; these are the questions a fund manager asks on a Monday.

chat_bubble Which holders will lose 47% of their next distribution because no TFN was quoted?
chat_bubble How many holders make up half of each fund, and who holds more than 20%?
chat_bubble Which applications are stuck, and is each one waiting on identity or on money?
chat_bubble Who still owes money on the last capital call, and how much?
chat_bubble Which retail holders are still owed a periodic or exit statement, and by when?
chat_bubble Which high-risk holders are overdue for their identity review?
chat_bubble Which non-resident holders have no self-certification or withholding rate set?
chat_bubble What did each holder receive, and what was withheld, in the last distribution?
chat_bubble Which funds have a unit price more than three months old?
chat_bubble Which holders could not be paid a distribution today because there is no bank account on file?

Switching

How to switch from Registry Direct

The move involves exporting your holdings and transaction history, checking the imported records, then comparing both registers before you stop using Registry Direct.

  1. 1

    Export your register

In Registry Direct, export All holdings to CSV and export each holder’s transaction history if you want to bring that history across. Registry Direct documents these as free, self-service exports. Check with Registry Direct if you cannot find them or need help choosing the right export for your account.

  2. 2

    Load the exported records

Use the Unit Registry import process to bring in the holdings export, then include the transaction history if you exported it. Start with its test run so you can review what it would import before it writes records. The free version accepts both exports and keeps columns it does not use, rather than discarding them.

  3. 3

    Review the import results

Check the import’s results before relying on the new register. Pay particular attention to any transaction history it refuses because the transactions do not add up to a holder’s balance, and review how your columns map to the new records. Tax file numbers and bank details are not brought across as values. The register records only whether they were given.

  4. 4

    Run both registers briefly

Keep Registry Direct available while you check the new register against it. Compare holder balances and transaction history, and review any current applications, transfers, distributions or statements that matter to your next work. Resolve differences before you treat the new records as your working register. The new system calculates and records distributions, but your bank makes payments.

  5. 5

    Switch off Registry Direct

Once you have checked the records you need and are ready to work from the new register, stop entering updates in Registry Direct. Confirm your own account and record-retention requirements before ending your Registry Direct service. The new register keeps its records in a database you own, with no web front end.

construction

Where the real effort goes

The hands-on work is usually mapping your own columns and rules, then deciding how much transaction history to bring and checking that it reconciles. The import keeps unused columns, but a mismatch in a holder’s history can stop that history from importing. When Enterprise DNA installs and runs the system for you, it handles the migration as part of the agreed setup.

Questions

Instead of Registry Direct, answered

Is this cheaper than Registry Direct for a small register? expand_more

Not always on the subscription alone. Registry Direct lists its Companies Standard plan with no monthly fee. The difference shows on a trust register with distributions, statements and identity checks, where Registry Direct quotes privately and charges per holding, per check and per support hour. Bring your invoice and we compare it line by line.

Can we bring our register across? expand_more

Yes. Registry Direct lets you export All holdings and each holder's transaction history to CSV for free. The free version imports both, keeps every column it does not use, and refuses a history that does not add up to the holder's balance. Tax file numbers and bank details stay out of it: it records only whether they were given.

Does it pay distributions or lodge tax reports? expand_more

No. It calculates each holder's distribution and withholding, records the approval and the payment date, and produces the statements. Your bank makes the payment, and your fund accountant lodges the AIIR, FATCA and CRS reports and issues tax statements. We can connect the payment file and the accountant's figures in your version.

Our investors expect to log in. What do they get? expand_more

In the free version they get statements and notices by email or post, produced from the register. If your investors want a portal or online application forms, we build them on the same records as part of your version.

How do you charge for building and running it? expand_more

One setup fee, then a retainer. We agree the funds, the migration, the statements and the weekly work up front. Bring a recent Registry Direct invoice and a sample distribution so the comparison is specific.
